  • Publication number: 20200164552
Abstract: An interior part for a vehicle is formed by core-back expansion molding. The interior part includes a foamed plastic body formed by injecting a foamable plastic resin into a mold and separating the mold portions of the mold to allow foaming expansion of the foamable plastic resin. An edge portion of the foamed plastic body includes a projecting freeze section and a core-back expansion radius located adjacent to the projecting freeze section. The projecting freeze section is formed in a freeze seal area of the mold adjacent a parting line to help prevent excessive flashing of material at the parting line during separation.

  • Publication number: 20190391200
Abstract: Disclosed herein is a method and apparatus for testing the response of electrical circuits to being flexed. Support members, preferably at least two, are positioned to receive the electrical circuits to be tested. The support members are spaced apart from each other to permit the electrical circuit to be flexed between the two support members. A plunger, having an arcuate front face is positioned between the support members. The plunger is depressed, flexing the electrical circuit a selected amount. After the circuit has been flexed a selected amount, the circuit is tested to determine whether or not it is fully operational after being flexed.

  • Publication number: 20190365230
Abstract: An embodiment in accordance with the present invention provides a new acquisition scheme for T2-weighted BOLD fMRI. It employs a T2 preparation module to induce the BOLD contrast, followed by a single-shot 3D fast gradient echo (GRE) readout with short echo time (TE<2 ms). The separation of BOLD contrast generation from the readout substantially reduces the “dead time” due to long TE required in spin echo (SE) BOLD sequences. This approach termed “3D T2prep-GRE,” can be implemented with any magnetic resonance imaging machine, known to or conceivable by one of skill in the art. This approach is expected to be useful for ultra-high field fMRI studies that require whole brain coverage, or focus on regions near air cavities. The concept of using T2 preparation to generate BOLD contrast can be combined with many other fast imaging sequences at any field strength.

  • Patent number: 10420970
Abstract: A fire protection system includes a dry pipe system and a controlled discharge gas vent. The dry pipe system and controlled discharge gas vent operate using a breathing cycle to displace oxygen and/or water vapor from within the piping network of the dry pipe system. The controlled gas discharge vent allows displacement of pressurized air with nitrogen, for example, using manual or automated processes that can employ one or more sensors. Corrosion resulting from oxygen, water, and/or microbial growth is reduced or nearly eliminated.

  • Publication number: 20190143161
Abstract: A fire protection system comprising at least one sprinkler, a source of pressurized water, a piping network connecting at least one sprinkler to the source of pressurized water, and a nitrogen generator coupled to the sprinkler system. The nitrogen generator may be a nitrogen membrane system or a nitrogen pressure swing adsorption system. The present systems and methods reduce or nearly eliminate corrosion that typically affects conventional fire protection systems, such as caused by oxygen and microbial systems, which can deteriorate or compromise function. Initial, repeated, or continuous displacement of oxygen with nitrogen in the fire protection system significantly reduces or eliminates corrosion.

  • Patent number: 10077860
Abstract: A fire protection sprinkler system and method of inerting a fire protection sprinkler system includes connecting an inerting system to the piping network of a fire protection sprinkler system having a piping network and at least one sprinkler head connected with the piping network. The inerting system includes an inert gas source that is adapted to supply inert gas to the piping network and an inerting gas vent assembly. The gas vent assembly has a gas vent adapted to discharge gas, a solenoid and a control. The solenoid is adapted to selectively open the gas vent and to close the gas vent. The gas vent discharges gas when the solenoid opens the gas vent and does not discharge gas when the solenoid closes the gas vent. The control is adapted to operate the solenoid in a manner that allows the gas vent to discharge gas for a limited amount of time.

  • Publication number: 20160256889
Abstract: A variable output dispensing applicator is configured to dispense patterns of adhesive onto a substrate, such as striped patterns and box-shaped patterns defined by zones of full volume adhesive and zones of reduced volume adhesive. The dispensing applicator includes a liquid dividing module positioned directly between a supply manifold and a dispensing module. The liquid dividing module divides flow of adhesive from the manifold into first and second partial flows of adhesive, one of which continuously flows to the dispensing module and another of which is controlled to either be recirculated or delivered to the dispensing module. These different operating states of the liquid dividing module therefore enable highly responsive and rapid switching between a reduced or partial volume output and a full volume output immediately before discharge at the dispensing module.
