  • Patent number: 6705833
Abstract: A blower apparatus includes a blower housing having at least one airflow channel. A flexible sheet having at least one flap is coupled to the blower housing such that the flap overlaps the channel to form a one-way valve. A plurality of flaps may be positioned over a plurality of channels to form a blower apparatus with a plurality of one-way valves. The flexible sheet may include mounting features such as holes to facilitate assembly. For example, in one embodiment, the flexible sheet is pressed onto a plurality of pegs residing on the blower housing such that the holes receive the pegs. In another embodiment, the flexible sheet is pressed onto a plurality of pegs residing on an exhaust cover that is subsequently attached to the blower housing.

  • Patent number: 6620999
Abstract: A method and apparatus is provided for reducing electromagnetic radiation emissions. The method and apparatus of the present invention also reduce or prevent electromagnetic radiation generated by sources outside of a system assembly from interfering with and adversely affecting electrical circuits in the assembly. An electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) solution uses a lossy element, and/or an element comprised of a combination of lossy and conductive material.

  • Patent number: 6597577
Abstract: System for mounting components are provided. A representative system includes a pedestal stand with first and second pedestal base components. Each of the pedestal base components includes an upper mating member, a lower mating member and a support member. Each of the upper mating members are adapted to overlie and mate with a corresponding lower mating member of the other pedestal base component. So adapted, when the respective upper mating members are mated with corresponding lower mating members, the first support member is spaced from the second support member to form a channel therebetween. A chassis can be received within the channel.

  • Patent number: 6487072
Abstract: A stabilization mechanism limits rotational vibration in a module enclosure containing plural objects, such as computer disk drives, that produce rotational vibration about a rotational axis. The mechanism includes stabilizer structure coupled to an outer surface of the module enclosure and constructed to transmit a force toward the object that is effective to stabilize the object in the module enclosure. The stabilization mechanism may be formed as first and second spring-loaded contacts that each apply a constant force to the object.

  • Patent number: 6052278
Abstract: A data storage module and enclosure system generally comprising a data storage module enclosure and a plurality of data storage modules. The module enclosure includes top and bottom guide plates that define a plurality of data storage module bay slots. Normally, the top guide plate includes a plurality of compliant tabs that are adapted to engage the data storage modules when fully inserted, and a lock rail that is used secure the module in place within its bay slot. The data storage modules each include a data storage device, such as a disk drive, and a module carrier. The module carrier includes a canister having an open configuration. Normally mounted to the front side of the canister is a bezel which is contoured to fit the user's hand and which includes a finger cavity that facilitates carrying of the module.

  • Patent number: 6021909
Abstract: An equipment enclosure rack support rail system comprising an elongated support rail including an elongated side portion adapted to mount directly to the rack and an elongated base portion adapted to directly support an equipment component, and further comprising a low profile tie-down clamp that is securely mountable to the support rail to secure the equipment component supported by the support rail. The support rail of the system is further provided with a pair of upper alignment tabs and a pair of lower alignment tabs that extend rearwardly from the side portion of the support rail. One upper alignment tab and one lower alignment tab are positioned at each end of the support rail, and are vertically spaced a fraction of an EIA-U from each other such that the lower alignment tabs can be used to mount the rail in a whole EIA-U position and the upper alignment tabs can be used to mount the rail and equipment component in a fractional EIA-U position.
