  • Patent number: 6955549
Abstract: A battery ejection mechanism for ejecting a battery housing removably attached to an electrical device housing. The mechanism includes at least one ejection member having a button and an arm. The arm is adapted to transfer a force applied on the button to the electrical device housing to provide a pushing force for ejection of the battery pack from the electrical device housing. Force on the button also causes a latch on the battery pack to move to its release position.

  • Patent number: 6948412
Abstract: A motor driven power tool is provided having an internal dust collection system. A single electric motor drives the working member such as a saw or sander and simultaneously drives an air pump which acts as a collector vacuum for debris created when the power tool is in use. A dust collector shroud surrounds a portion of the cutting member and forms an outlet connected to the air pump inlet.

  • Patent number: 6942229
Abstract: The present invention discloses a collapsible stand for a bench-top power tool and methods therefore. The stand includes a structural member pivotally secured to a lower peripheral region of a base of a power tool. A slidable member is slidably and pivotally connected to the lower peripheral region and is pivotally connected to the pivotal structural member. Lower distal ends of both the pivotal and slidable structural members provide feet for supporting the associated power tool in an expanded orientation thereof. As the stand is collapsed, a top end of the slidable structural member slides towards a top end of the pivotal structural member. Both structural members may be pivoted to an orientation generally parallel with the lower peripheral region and may be locked thereto by a locking mechanism. A pair of wheels are rotatably connected to the base for transporting the stand and power tool thereupon.

  • Patent number: 6938587
Abstract: A power tool including a main section and a handle section. The main section includes an internal combustion engine and a housing at least partially surrounding the engine. The engine includes a cylinder, a spark plug, and a muffler. The handle shaft extending from the main section. The shaft forms a handle for the power tool and houses a drive shaft from the engine therein. The housing forms a cover section over a transmission assembly between the engine and the drive shaft. The cover section includes a scroll form to channel air flow pushed by the transmission assembly. The housing further comprises a spark plug boot to substantially prevent air from exiting the housing at the spark plug.

  • Patent number: 6848350
Abstract: The present invention discloses an improved miter gauge for retaining and adjustably positioning a workpiece. The miter gauge includes a fence frame pivotally mounted to a base member for adjusting the workpiece to be cut at a user selected angle. The fence frame includes a fence surface for positioning the workpiece. The fence surface is opposed by a quick-adjusting stopping unit mountable to the base member for clamping the workpiece therebetween.

  • Publication number: 20040265079
Abstract: A hand-held power tool having a housing and a removably attachable portion. The removably attachable portion, which comprises an object sensor to detect studs hidden behind walls, electrical lines, and other materials, is readily accessible to tradesmen. A level may also be included on the removably attachable portion.

  • Publication number: 20040255748
Abstract: An ergonomic miter saw is provided having a base and a saw arm assembly with the saw arm assembly pivotally affixed at a fixed end to the base and provided with a distal end having a handle extending outwardly therefrom. The central region of the arm assembly includes a rotary spindle supporting a cutting disk. A handle is preferably provided with an elongate grip portion sized for the user's fingers and a palm pad portion extending outwardly therefrom to underlie the heal of the user's hand to minimize bending torque on the user's wrist as the arm is lowered. Ideally, the handle is rotated in a direction opposite that the cutting disk is tilted. Preferably, the handle is adjustably oriented about the arm axis in a direction opposite that the saw blade is tiltable so that the deviation for horizontal of the handle can be minimized when the miter saw is used in a tilted cutting disk mode.

  • Patent number: 6758731
Abstract: An orbital sander is provided having a number of novel features including a high speed permanent magnet DC motor having a relatively flat rpm versus torque curve. The sander includes an AC to DC power supply, a remotely located on/off switch operated by a switch actuator bar extending transversely through the housing enabling the operator to actuate the on/off switch by alternatively pushing opposed ends of the actuator bar. The orbital sander further includes a fan having non-uniformly spaced blades, eliminating the need for a conventional counterweight, and a dust outlet adapted to be alternatively connected to a dust canister or alternate size collector vacuum hoses.
