  • Publication number: 20160005020
Abstract: Disclosed herein are system, method, and computer program product embodiments for a cloud-based point-of-sale system and a multi-function point-of-sale (POS) device. In an embodiment, the POS device includes an interactive display that switches between a first position oriented towards and for use by an operating clerk, and a second position oriented towards and for use by a customer. The POS device is able to detect the switch between the first position and the second position. A processor in the POS device outputs a first graphical user interface (GUI) on the interactive display in response to detection of the first position and a second GUI in response to detection of the second position. In an embodiment, the components of the POS device are combined together in a unified assembly.

  • Patent number: 7315336
Abstract: A touchscreen system is provided that incorporates a simplified sealing system around the bezel. The touchscreen system includes a planar touchscreen coupled to a display device having a planar display surface, the touchscreen having a touch sensitive region on a touchscreen surface. A frame is positioned above the touchscreen. The frame includes a central opening that substantially provides an outer border for the touch sensitive region, a rigid portion comprising an outer periphery of the frame, a flexible resilient portion connected to the rigid portion, the flexible portion comprising an inner periphery of the frame, and a sealing portion interposed between the touchscreen surface and the flexible portion. The flexible portion of the frame is directed out of a plane defined by the rigid portion toward the touchscreen prior to bringing the frame into contact with the touchscreen.

  • Publication number: 20060209041
Abstract: A method and apparatus for associating components within a touch monitor comprising a monitor and a touchscreen which are interconnected with one another. A first data value is stored in a memory interconnected with the monitor, and a second data value is stored in the memory which is interconnected with the touchscreen. The first and second data values are used to identify a unique relationship between the monitor and the touchscreen. When the first and second data values are read and compared, it is determined whether the monitor and the touchscreen are associated with one another based on the first and second data values.

  • Publication number: 20050248543
Abstract: A theft resistant touch sensor system is provided that can be easily integrated into a touch monitor and configured to be used with a wide variety of host computers. The theft resistant touch sensor system involves a handshake procedure conducted between a controller and a host computer. The controller acts to disable a display for the touch sensor system if the handshake is not successful. The system can be updated remotely via network connections, but does not require continuous intervention by a network connection. The system includes a touch sensor capable of detecting a presence and location of a touch on a touch sensitive surface and a display located proximate the touch sensor, the display providing information correlated to a touch location. The touch sensor system also provides a controller capable of transmitting and receiving information from the sensor that includes a first data input/output port. The controller can communicate with a computer through the first data port.
