  • Patent number: 6794428
Abstract: A coupler is described for use in carbon black filled rubber compositions. The coupler includes an amine group and a thiol group or a polysulfidic linkage. The coupler improves the interaction of the carbon black with the rubber as measured by a decrease in the tan delta at 60° C. while substantially maintaining the tan delta at 0° C.
    Type: Grant

  • Patent number: 6480168
Abstract: An compact and rugged antenna system particularly suited to direction finding includes a plurality of antenna arrays for receiving respective frequency bands and colocated on a mast with separation between antenna arrays along the mast. The mast includes a coil wound of an insulator and functioning as a loaded inductor to shift the mast resonance out of the frequency band of the antenna system. A VHF dipole array having elements shaped to reduce scattering to UHF and SHF arrays is supported on movable arms which allow retraction that reduces height and provides mechanical protection to one or more other arrays as well as damping against vibration by contacting the mast with shaped portions of the dipole elements. The bowtie elements of the UHF array are angled at a central region to optimize array diameter at low UHF frequencies. A finned RF electronics housing is preferably provided which reduces solar loading and dissipates heat from antenna electronics.

  • Patent number: 5600491
Abstract: A thermal imaging system (100) for a vehicle includes an objective lens (104) for receiving an image of the object, an eyepiece lens (102) for viewing the image of the object, and a compensator lens (106) movably located between the objective and eyepiece lenses (104, 102) for providing a thermal image of the object. The system (100) includes a servo motor control system (107, 109, 110, 112 and 114) for controlling the position of the compensator lens (106) based upon temperature, range and field of view to provide an accurate thermal image of the object.

  • Patent number: 4622869
Abstract: A ratchet barrel is placed upon the lower half of sucker rod joint. A wrench is placed upon the upper half of the joint. A torque handle is pivoted to the wrench. A pawl upon the torque handle engages a ratchet wheel upon the barrel to tighten or loosen the joint. A stop upon the wrench permits the wrench to be rotated by the torque handle without the assistance of the ratchet and pawl mechanism.

  • Patent number: 4474088
Abstract: Tongs are provided for screwing together or unscrewing sucker rods for deep oil wells. A slotted ring gear is placed into a slotted annular housing plate and driven by conventional means. Heads on cage plates are moved by cam on the internal surface of the slotted ring gear. Relative movement between the cage plates carrying the head and the ring gear is governed by the position of a reversible ratchet stop which includes a beveled pin. The beveled pin is mounted in a hole through one of the cage plates and works on a slot in the ring plate. When the bevel is faced in one direction, it permits rotation of the ring gear to the cage plates in that direction, but holds the ring gear and cage plates in the matched position rotation in the other direction. The matched position is when the cams are in a neutral or withdrawn position and when the slots are aligned.
