In one embodiment, a composition of such a lubricant includes a dichalcogenide such as molybdenum disulfide and a chlorotrifluoroethylene-vinyl chloride copolymer binder. In addition, a silane curing agent may be utilized to react with the binder to improve the properties and/or performance characteristics of the lubricant.

The novel composition comprises an aqueous dispersion of a mixture of a solid lubricant, a water-soluble silicate binder, a setting agent, and a water-soluble phosphate. A preferred composition comprises a mixture of flake graphite, boron nitride, sodium silicate, zinc oxide and potassium phosphate tribasic.
