Publication number: 20050096048Abstract: The concepts herein address a communication network for managing user identifiers of users accessing data applications on at least two different networks each accessible through a service provider, and providing a seamless sign on when accessing a data application from a mobile station. A wireless communication network links a mobile station with a data application on the wireless network, and a user accessing the data application from the mobile station is identified by a user identifier entered by the user. A communication network other than a wireless communication network links a user interface other than a mobile station with a data application on the other communication network, and the user accessing the data application from the user interface is identified by the user identifier entered by the user. A computer system is in communication with data applications of the wireless communication network and with the other communication network.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 30, 2003Publication date: May 5, 2005Inventors: Varsha Clare, Allen Billings, Kent Hughes

Patent number: 6839704Abstract: A system and method for collecting, indexing, searching, accessing and downloading data over local and global computer networks. Data is reposed in a central database, indexed and interrelated by attributes characteristic of the data type. The data includes objects such as documents, queries, attribute lists and the like. The data is indexed and managed using a relational database management system (RDBMS). The central database and the RDBMS reside in a server that can be coupled to the global network through a network/user interface. Queries received by a user are converted to a format understood by the RDBMS. Objects can be returned as an image file for viewing, and can be purchased for downloading. Content to the database may be provided by individuals or proprietors of other databases, either on the network or through direct input to the server. Content to the database can also be self-generated by the RDBMS.Type: GrantFiled: March 25, 2003Date of Patent: January 4, 2005Assignee: TrialSmith, Inc.Inventors: Kent Hughes, Tony Benton

Patent number: 6732087Abstract: A system and method for collecting, indexing, searching, accessing and downloading of data over local and global computer networks. The data is reposed in a central database, where it is indexed and interrelated documents by attributes characteristic of the data type. The data is typically objects such as documents, queries, attribute lists and the like. The data is indexed and managed using a relational database management system (RDBMS). The central database and the RDBMS reside in a server that can be coupled to the global network through a network/user interface, queries received by a user based on known network protocols are converted to a format such as SQL understood by the RDBMS. Objects can be returned as an image file for viewing by the user, and can be purchased for downloading to the user's computer through some security mechanism, such as membership in a group having access to the database.Type: GrantFiled: October 1, 1999Date of Patent: May 4, 2004Assignee: TrialSmith, Inc.Inventors: Kent Hughes, Tony Benton

Patent number: 5769645Abstract: An input/output electrical connector header 102 includes at least two rows of terminal pins 140 which can be connected to two separate printed circuit boards 106 and 108. The same header 102 provides input and output for both printed circuit boards 106, 108. The terminal pins 140 in each of the rows extend through openings 130 in the same header housing wall 126. A separable interconnection is made between pins in a second terminal row and a second printed circuit board 108 at the rear of the header 102. This separate connection can be established by a separate multiposition connector 114, 214, 314 or 414 containing receptacle contacts 116, 216, 316, 416 respectively. In other embodiments, this separate connector 514, 614, 714 and 1214, includes the terminal pins in the second terminal row in the separate connector.Type: GrantFiled: August 15, 1997Date of Patent: June 23, 1998Assignee: The Whitaker CorporationInventors: Galen Monroe Martin, Larry George Novotny, Donald Kent Hughes, Samuel Garner Bouse, Jr.

Patent number: 4122425Abstract: An electrical connection of a terminal to a fine wire comprises a terminal post having a free end and a fixed end. The wire extends along the post and is wrapped therearound intermediate the ends of the post. The terminal has a generally U-shaped cross secton and is crimped onto the post with the web portion of the terminal against the windings. The surface of the web has serrations which penetrate the varnish type insulation of the wire and establish the electrical contact. The terminal and the terminal post have features which ensure the achievement of the electrical contact without damage to the extremely fine wire.Type: GrantFiled: August 31, 1977Date of Patent: October 24, 1978Assignee: AMP IncorporatedInventor: Donald Wayne Kent Hughes

Patent number: 4113341Abstract: An electrical connector for connecting wires to terminal pins or the like comprises a housing in which terminal members are contained. Each terminal member has a wire crimp portion at one end thereof and a pin receptacle portion at its other end, the two portions being integral with each other by means of a removable strap member. The wire crimp portion and the pin receptacle portion also has integral wire-receiving means for receiving the lead wires of a component. If a component is required to be connected in series with one wire in the connector, the leads from the component are inserted into the lead wire-receiving portions of the wire crimp portion and the pin receptacle portion of the terminal and the strap member is removed. For those wires extending to the connector which do not require a circuit component in series therewith, the strap member is not removed.Type: GrantFiled: August 12, 1977Date of Patent: September 12, 1978Assignee: AMP IncorporatedInventor: Donald Wayne Kent Hughes

Patent number: 4026013Abstract: An apparatus for terminating a very fine magnet wire and which, in doing so, becomes the permanent termination thereof. A three sided contact forming three sides of a trapezium has the center side form an acute angle with the serrated second side and an obtuse angle with the third side. A housing has a cavity therein for receiving and retaining the contact. The cavity contains a stopping means against which the junction of the first and center contact sides abut as the contact is inserted into said housing. However, the third contact side continues further into the cavity to alter the said acute and obtuse angles towards right angles, thereby pushing the serrated second contact side in a direction normal to the insertion force and against a given wall of the housing and across which the magnet wire has been positioned.Type: GrantFiled: March 17, 1976Date of Patent: May 31, 1977Assignee: AMP IncorporatedInventor: Donald Kent Hughes

Patent number: 3937549Abstract: An improved slotted beam type electrical contact for engaging stranded wire is disclosed. The subject contact includes an insulation displacement feature which obviates the need for stripping the end of wire. It also assures good electrical and mechanical connection with the individual strands of the wire, regardless of the stranding or the lay of the strands, by the arrow head shape of the slot. The beams are retained in contact with the strands of wire by locking legs which, after the engagement of a stranded wire conductor therein, are deformed to prevent subsequent spreading of the beams.Type: GrantFiled: June 18, 1974Date of Patent: February 10, 1976Assignee: AMP IncorporatedInventor: Donald Kent Hughes
