  • Patent number: 8535053
Abstract: Described is a method as well as an apparatus for incineration of combustible waste during the manufacture of cement clinker by which method the waste is introduced via a waste inlet (11) and supported on a supporting surface (21) incorporated in a separate compartment (9), where the waste being actively transported, while simultaneously subjected to incineration, through the compartment to its outlet (23), where the hot exhaust gases produced in connection with the incineration of the waste being vented to the preheater system for heating the cement raw meal, and where the slag generated during the waste incineration process being extracted from the compartment (9). The method and the apparatus are peculiar in that exhaust gases containing NOx are introduced to the compartment (9).
    Type: Grant
    Filed: May 10, 2005
Date of Patent: September 17, 2013
    Assignee: Flsmidth A/S
Inventors: Kent Thomsen, Lars Skaarup Jensen, Alexander Helm

  • Patent number: 6902393
Abstract: Described is a plant for manufacturing cement clinker comprising a preheater (1) which comprises at least one last cyclone (1d) and at least one next-to-last cyclone (1c) which is connected in series via a gas duct (2c) to and fed with a gas from the last cyclone (1d), a calciner (3) which comprises at least one inlet opening (9) for introducing preheated raw meal from the last cyclone (1d), and which is connected to a subsequent separating cyclone (4), a gas duct (2d) which connects the separating cyclone (4) to the last cyclone (1d), and which comprises at least one inlet opening (11) for introducing preheated raw meal from the next-to-last cyclone (1c).

  • Patent number: 6007331
Abstract: Sulfur oxides are removed from a preheater waste gas stream by reacting the sulfur oxides with lime recovered from the off gas stream in a calcining furnace. The method is particularly adaptable for use in a cement manufacturing plant wherein the sulfur dioxides in the waste gases result from the combustion of fossil fuels used for process heat.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: January 29, 1999
Date of Patent: December 28, 1999
    Assignee: Fuller Company
    Inventors: Kent Thomsen, Flemming Schomburg
