  • Patent number: 8875214
Abstract: In a television, which can be connected to a portable information terminal, it is possible to display video based on the data of a multimedia file stored on a storage medium even in cases where there is no built-in decoder. In cases where a TV itself does not possess a decoder which can decode the data of a multimedia file selected by the user from the multimedia files stored on the USB memory, the CPU of the TV transmits to a smartphone the data of the selected multimedia file and a decoding request command to request that the data be decoded, thus receiving a video signal and/or an audio signal obtained by various types of decoders of the smartphone. Consequently, the CPU of the TV can output video and/or audio to a display unit and a speaker on the basis of the data of the selected multimedia file.

  • Publication number: 20120134643
Abstract: A TV receiver which is connected to a BD player via a HDMI cable. The TV receiver comprises a display and a BD loader. When the BD player receives the command to perform a reproduction, the BD player transmits the CEC command for instructing the TV receiver to turn the power on. The TV receiver detects whether or not a BD disc is put in the BD loader. As a result of the detection, when the BD disc is put in the BD loader and also when the display can display a superimposed image, the TV receiver displays image contents read out from the BD disc on the display. Subsequently, the TV receiver displays a message which prompts the user to select whether or not to eject the BD disc. When “YES” is selected, the TV receiver ejects the BD disc.

  • Patent number: 7880816
Abstract: On a display unit, icons representing types of video signals supplied to respective ones of a plurality of input terminals are displayed. When a user operates a remote and selects an icon representing the type of desired video signal, a video image derived from the video signal of the desired type supplied to the input terminal that corresponds to the selected icon is displayed on the display unit. In such a situation, arrangement of icons on the display unit can be changed by a user instruction given by an operation of the remote. Further, the icons also show shapes of the input terminals, and therefore, the user can easily confirm to which input terminal of which shape the device supplying the video signal of the type indicated by the icon is to be connected.

  • Patent number: 7667781
Abstract: A television set carries out communications with a remote control. When the television set displays a picture based on a picture signal subjected to quality adjustment, a signal level of a quality adjustment parameter is obtained, and the data indicating the obtained signal level is transmitted to the remote control. The remote control displays the received data. The user checks the displayed data, and enters data for changing the signal level so that the remote control transmits the entered data to the television set. The television set receives the changed level data, and adjusts the quality relating to the picture signal based on the received level data. The television set displays the picture of the quality adjusted according to the signal level changed by the user.

  • Patent number: 7440036
Abstract: Even when a user is by the immediate side of a screen of a large screen television receiver such as a plasma TV receiver, the user can view an image displayed on the screen entirely by contracting the image to be displayed, and power consumption of the television receiver can be reduced. When the user choose a contraction mode for displaying the image with contraction, the video signal processor performs pixel skipping of video data corresponding to predetermined pixels to video data of a television signal received by a tuner. The display panel displays a contracted image with an initial contraction ratio at an initial display position on a screen of the display panel with using the processed video data. The contraction ratio and the display position of the contracted image on the screen of the display panel can be varied optionally by operating a wireless remote controller, corresponding to a distance between the user and the screen of the display panel or according to the user's predilection.

  • Patent number: 6778340
Abstract: In a lens mounting mechanism, by rotating a ring member through touching lugs of the ring member and aligning grooves of a base member and recesses of the ring member in the circumferential direction, and then inserting a lens barrel into a hole portion, the lens barrel is moved to the hole portion without being interfered by projections of a barrel mounting member, so that the lens barrel can be inserted into the hole portion until a flange portion abuts against an opening end surface. Then, by touching the lugs of the ring member and rotating the ring member to displace the recesses from the grooves of the base member in the circumference direction, the projection of the barrel mounting member is locked by the ring member and the barrel mounting member is fixed to the base member, so that the lens barrel can be mounted to the apparatus body.
