  • Patent number: 5525226
Abstract: A resilient molded gasket adapted to be received in a preformed annular groove having an inner sidewall formed at an oblique angle relative to the base of the groove and having an enlarged area defined at the junction of the inner sidewall and the base. The gasket includes a generally circular body and at least two integrally molded tabs. The body is sized to be slidably received in the groove. The tabs are adapted to engage and then snap past a lip formed on the free end of the inner sidewall and then to be received in the enlarged area of the groove so as to retain the gasket in the groove while permitting rotation of the gasket.

  • Patent number: 5453195
Abstract: The filter includes an end plate stamped and drawn from sheet metal and formed with four upright walls generally defining a square and having inlet openings therein. Relatively deep gussets are located between the walls for strengthening purposes. Located outwardly of the walls and gussets is a flat peripheral portion of relatively small area and defining a flat surface to which a sheet metal retaining ring is welded. The ring is seamed to the canister of the filter by a hem which hooks beneath a short radially extending lip of the canister.

  • Patent number: 5078877
Abstract: A filter assembly for an internal combustion engine includes inner and outer coaxial filter elements disposed in a spin-on canister which is detachably secured to a mounting adaptor. Oil from the crankcase is filtered by the outer filter element and a substantial volume of the filtered oil flows to the primary lubricating circuit of the engine. A small percentage of the filtered oil is subjected to further filtration by the inner filter element and is returned directly to the crankcase. A tubular fitting extends between end caps on the two coaxial filter elements to establish communication between the inner filter and the mounting adaptor, to separate the two flow circuits, and to maintain a fixed axial spacing between the two filter elements.
