Abstract: A portable data processor such as a personal digital assistant (PDA) which is designed to perform a data processing function and a mobile communication function is provided. The data processor has a touch sensitive display for data entry and display installed in a top surface of a body and a microphone and a speaker installed in a back surface of the body. These arrangements allow a user to take up the PDA without passing it from one hand to the other hand when a telephone call is received on a desk, for example.

Abstract: A portable device includes a portable device body, a touch panel provided on a surface of the device body, and a cover pivotally coupled to the device body for covering the touch panel when it is closed and uncovering the touch panel when it is opened. The portable device further includes a window provided at the cover to allow the touch panel to be seen through the window when the cover is closed. The portable device further includes a button provided at a position on the cover corresponding to the touch panel. The button is operable from an outer side of the cover to control an operation of the touch panel while the cover is closed. A concentrator includes a concentrator body and a device receiving unit attached to the concentrator body for receiving therein the portable device so as to perform data transmission and reception and/or power feeding relative to the portable device.

Abstract: An optical connector apparatus is provided. This connector apparatus includes a host connector connectable to a host device, a signal cable connected to the host connector, and a terminal connector connected to the host connector through the signal cable. The terminal connector is designed to be joined to a terminal device and includes a casing having a pair of hooks formed on both sides thereof. Each hook is designed to engage a recessed portion formed in a casing of the terminal device for establishing tight mechanical engagement between the terminal connector and the terminal device.

Abstract: There is disclosed a terminal device. A paper roll cover is pivotally connected at its proximal end portion on a rear end portion of a paper roll receptacle portion so as to pivotally move into an open position where the paper roll cover is inclined slightly rearwardly. Position limiting members are provided on the inner side of the paper roll cover for holding a paper roll in registry with a paper insertion slot when the paper roll cover is in the open position. The paper roll is supported by the position limiting members, so that paper can be drawn out from a lower side of the paper roll by both hands, and can be positively inserted into the paper insertion slot. When the paper roll cover supporting the paper roll is pivotally moved into the closed position, the paper roll is caused to roll into the paper roll receptacle portion, so that the drawn-out portion of the paper is again wound on the paper roll.
