  • Patent number: 11246209
Abstract: A radiation treatment apparatus includes an accelerator that emits a charged particle beam, a time measurement unit that measures an emission time of the charged particle beam of the accelerator, a first control unit that controls the accelerator based on the emission time measured by the time measurement unit, and an emission determination unit that determines whether or not the accelerator is emitting the charged particle beam while the first control unit is controlling the accelerator. The time measurement unit adds a time, for which a result of a determination performed by the emission determination unit is that the accelerator is emitting the charged particle beam, to the emission time and does not add a time, for which the result of the determination performed by the emission determination unit is that the accelerator is not emitting the charged particle beam, to the emission time.

  • Publication number: 20210299480
Abstract: There is provided a charged particle beam irradiation apparatus that performs irradiation of a charged particle beam, the apparatus including: an accelerator that accelerates a charged particle to generate the charged particle beam; an irradiator that includes a gantry rotatable around a rotation axis, and performs irradiation of the charged particle beam generated by the accelerator; and a transporter that includes an energy degrader provided outside the irradiator to reduce an energy of the charged particle beam generated by the accelerator, and transports the charged particle beam, which is generated by the accelerator, to the irradiator. The transporter transports the charged particle beam to the irradiator while maintaining an energy distribution of the charged particle beam that is reduced in energy by the energy degrader.

  • Patent number: 9006693
Abstract: An energy degrader includes: a damping unit that attenuates energy of incident charged particles and has a thickness changing stepwise or continuously according to a position of a two-dimensional coordinate system within a plane crossing a traveling direction of charged particles; and a driving unit that performs translational driving of the damping unit in first and second axial directions that are directions of two axes crossing each other in the two-dimensional coordinate system.

  • Patent number: 8866109
Abstract: A charged-particle beam irradiation device, which irradiates an irradiation target with a charged-particle beam, includes a transport line that transports the charged-particle beam and a rotating gantry that is rotatable about a rotation axis. The transport line includes an inclination portion making the charged-particle beam travel so that the charged-particle beam is inclined to be separated from the rotation axis, and is formed to turn the charged-particle beam in a rotation direction of the rotation axis and to bend the charged-particle beam, which has turned in the rotation direction, toward the rotation axis. The rotating gantry is formed of a cylindrical portion that receives the irradiation target and supports the transport line. The inclination portion is disposed in the cylindrical portion of the rotating gantry. The charged-particle beam irradiation device further includes blocking members that block radiation emitted from the transport line disposed in the cylindrical portion.
