  • Patent number: 7336262
Abstract: A coordinate-capturing apparatus suitable for inputting handwritten characters or diagrams to a computer or a printer is disclosed. The apparatus includes an ultrasonic transmitter mounted on an input pen for transmitting ultrasonic waves, two ultrasonic receivers for receiving ultrasonic waves transmitted form the ultrasonic transmitter, and a distance calculating device for calculating distances between the input pen and the two ultrasonic receivers in order to determine coordinates representing a position of the input pen on the basis of the calculated distances. The apparatus of the invention can perform coordinate detection smoothly even when the input pen moves fast, and has reduced electric power consumption in the input pen to increase the life-span of a battery included in the input pen.

  • Publication number: 20010016856
Abstract: An electronic-form preparation system is disclosed. The system includes a coordinate-input device, and a data processor. The coordinate-input device includes an input pen having a writing member for handwriting characters into a form, and a transmitter provided in the vicinity of a tip of the writing member for emitting a signal when making entries into the form by the pen is started. The coordinate-input device further includes a plurality of receivers spaced from each other and receiving the signal emitted from the transmitter, and a signal processing circuit for determining coordinates of a series of points constituting a part of a locus of a character handwritten into the form by the pen on the basis of timing of reception of the signal by each of the receivers. The data processor generates data of an electronic form to be displayed on a display on the basis of the determined coordinates.

  • Patent number: 5237368
Abstract: In image formation, a reversible thermosensitive medium, preferably in the form of an endless belt, is selectively heated in accordance with an electrical image signal, so that the areas of the thermosensitive belt will have different transmittances corresponding to the respective pixels of the image signal. A photosensitive member, preferably in the form of a drum, widely employed in electrophotography, is uniformly charged, and the thermosensitive belt is then superimposed on the photosensitive drum, and the photosensitive drum is exposed to light of a uniform intensity through the thermosensitive belt. The intensity of light which each area of the photosensitive drum receives depends of the transmittance of the corresponding area of the thermosensitive belt. An electrostatic image that is formed on the photosensitive drum as a result of the exposure is therefore a conversion from the transmittance image on the thermosensitive belt.
