  • Patent number: 11565486
Abstract: A device and method for expediting the repair of laminated automobile glass, comprising a supporting bridge removably mountable to a windshield surface over a damaged area, with a receptacle for receiving an injector or dispenser for UV curable repair resin, and guide means between said bridge and dispenser comprised of a guide pin and a guide groove with linear and helical portions. The resin dispenser can be quickly aligned, inserted into place and sealed against the windshield with only a partial twist. The dispenser includes a manually operable plunger which partially defines an expandable chamber to hold UV curable repair resin and provide a means of controllably applying vacuum or pressure to the resin and damaged cavity, valve means to allow selectable control of air to be released from or allowed into said chamber to facilitate creation and application of vacuum or pressure, further including means to lock the plunger in multiple selectable positions to maintain applied vacuum or pressure.

  • Patent number: 8378315
Abstract: A windshield repair device includes a bridge, an injector attached to the bridge and at least one UV, e.g., light emitting diode (LED), light source attached to the bridge or integrated into bridge or the injector to provide UV light within or around the injector. The UV, e.g., LED, light source can also be attached to an existing windshield repair device having a bridge and an injector attached to the bridge, so as to retrofit an existing windshield repair device to provide UV light within or around the injector. A method for curing resin provided in a crack in a windshield can be carried out by exposing the resin to UV light from at least one UV LED light source.

  • Publication number: 20120299254
Abstract: A stroke shortening adapter for use with a reciprocating power tool which holds a cutting tool at one and is affixed to the shaft of the power tool at the opposite end. The adapter provides two coaxial body portions which are nested and axially slidable with respect to one another. A compression spring is retained in a central chamber between said portions to bias the portions to an axially extended position. The axial stroke of the power tool is partially absorbed by axial movement between said portions and compression of the spring.

  • Publication number: 20080156414
Abstract: A pre-treatment chemical mixture of hydrofluoric acid or ammonium bifluoride and isopropyl alcohol for glass adhesive applications. In one particular a pretreatment for the repair of stone breaks and long cracks in windshields. The pretreatment improves the repair by removing, through evaporation of the solvent, isopropyl alcohol, the hydrophobic coating that has been applied to the windshield when it was manufactured and simultaneously etching the sides of the stone break or long crack in a way that allows better adhesion by the adhesive repair resin while not leaving any trace of the etching after the repair is complete, thereby keeping the windshield or other glass, clear.

  • Patent number: 7354537
Abstract: A laminated glass repair tool includes an injector body having a passage for applying a vacuum to a damaged area; a side chamber connected to the passage; and a resin reservoir movable within the side chamber between a first position in which resin provided in the resin reservoir is prevented from entering the passage in the injector body and a second position in which resin is allowed to flow into the passage in the injector body. A method for repairing laminated glass includes sealing the injector body to a damaged area of laminated glass; providing the filled resin reservoir in the side chamber; applying a vacuum to the damaged area of laminated glass through the passage while maintaining the resin reservoir in the first position; and moving the resin reservoir to the second position in to allow the resin to flow into the passage in the injector body.

  • Patent number: 5591460
Abstract: Portable self-contained apparatus for repairing a glass windshield by filling a damaged area with a repair material. An injector nozzle having a reservoir for holding an uncured liquid repair material is sealed over the damaged area of the windshield by vacuum cups. The reservoir is automatically supplied with timed alternating vacuum and positive precision controlled pressures from a fluid pressure device controlled by preprogrammed computer circuitry which is responsive to conditions of timing controls and of sensor controls for measuring and regulating the amounts and durations of the vacuum and positive pressures applied to the reservoir.
