  • Patent number: 9230786
Abstract: The present invention relates to electrospray ionization (ESI) at atmospheric pressure coupled with a mass spectrometer, in particular to a special kind of micro-electrospray with liquid flows in the range of 0.1 to 100 microliters per minute. The invention describes the use of an off-axis pre-entrance channel in an ESI ion source to prevent particulate matter with higher inertia than the (charged) gas molecules, such as droplets, from entering the mass spectrometer. The elimination of the particulate matter improves the quantitative precision of an LC/MS bioassay, minimizes the contamination of the mass spectrometer and improves the robustness for high throughput assays.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: June 11, 2014
Date of Patent: January 5, 2016

  • Publication number: 20140061128
Abstract: A mobile phase delivery device for use with high pressure liquid chromatography includes a manifold having a plurality of inlets, wherein each inlet is fluidly coupled with a solvent source. The manifold further has a mobile phase outlet that outputs a mobile phase, composed of solvent or solvent mixture, onto an analytical line. The device further includes at least one pump for delivering solvent to the manifold, and a fluid branch in the manifold that is located at a point downstream of the plurality of inlets, and is fluidly coupled with at least one of a pressure sensor and a purge valve.

  • Patent number: 5525303
Abstract: An integral fitting and filter assembly (10) includes a tubular body (12) having a integral proximal fitting end (14) and an integral distal fitting end (16). A central passage (18) extends from the proximal fitting end to the distal fitting end of the body. A tubular sleeve (20) is slidably received within the central passage of the body. The tubular sleeve includes a stem portion (22) and a larger diameter head portion (24). The stem portion of the sleeve is packed with a selective chemical-absorbent packing material (26), that is retained within the sleeve by first and second porous plugs (28) secured within opposite ends of the stem portion of the sleeve. The sleeve is slidably inserted into the body, and is adjustably positioned longitudinally to provide a pre-column filter that may be used to mate with differently configured mating fittings, such as high-performance liquid chromatography instrument inlet fittings.
