  • Patent number: 10554711
Abstract: Methods and systems for pre-conditioning a video stream are provided herein. For example, an apparatus comprising a memory and one or more processors configured to execute instructions stored in the memory are provided. The instructions: identify packets of a first bitstream in a transport stream, such first bitstream corresponding to a base layer; identify packets of a second bitstream in the transport stream, such second bitstream corresponding to an enhancement layer; identify an initial packet corresponding to an ith picture in the first bitstream; identify an initial packet corresponding to the ith picture in the second bitstream; and reorder packets in the transport stream such that the initial packet corresponding to the ith picture in the second bitstream occurs after the initial packet corresponding to the ith picture in the first bitstream.

  • Publication number: 20200023197
Abstract: A method of irradiating a target with a high power density irradiation beam is described. The method can use an irradiation system configured to output an irradiation beam through a vacuum window. The irradiation beam is scanned repetitively back and forth between two angular orientations of the irradiation beam as the irradiation beam strikes and traverses the vacuum window. The target is moved as the irradiation beam is scanned. The irradiation beam and the target are aligned. The scanning of the irradiations beam and the moving of the target are synchronized to each other. The scanning of the irradiation beam prevents localized overheating of the vacuum window and allows the irradiation beam to have a power density that would damage the vacuum window if the irradiation beam were not scanned.

  • Patent number: 10448069
Abstract: Methods and systems for processing a video stream are disclosed. A first tier value may be assigned to each of a plurality of SHRAP pictures in a first video stream. A reference tier value may be assigned to pictures in the first video stream that may be used as reference pictures. A plurality of discard tier values may be assigned to pictures in the first video stream that may be discarded during trick mode operations and do not depend on other pictures assigned one of the plurality of discard tier values. A trick mode operation may then be performed, wherein the presentation of pictures in the first video stream is dependent upon assignment of tier values.

  • Publication number: 20190245749
Abstract: In one embodiment, a method, system, and apparatus is described in which data is stored in a memory to be used by a processor. The processor performs the steps of allocating initial available bandwidth for adaptive bitrate (ABR) streaming over an ABR streaming network among a set of channels available to be streamed, optimizing at least one profile for at least one channel of the set of channels after the initial available bandwidth has been allocated, the optimizing being performed on the basis of a video quality metric, a viewing metric, and at least one of: a central processing unit (CPU) constraint, and a bandwidth constraint. The allocating and optimizing is repeated upon one of adding at least one channel to the set of channels, deleting at least one channel from the set of channels, changing available CPU capacity, and changing available bandwidth. Related methods, systems, and apparatus is also described.
