Publication number: 20230001944Abstract: Vehicle safety system that ensures user of a vehicle performs a 360-degree walk around of the vehicle before it is moved from a resting location. Vehicle safety system includes plurality of input receivers positioned around the vehicle, and a pressure switch at the driver's seat of the vehicle, motion sensor, or the like to detect presence of an operator in the driver's seat of the vehicle. The user walks around the vehicle and activates the input receivers within a predetermined time period before sitting in the driver's seat. If user fails to activate input receivers, then the vehicle safety system generates an alert or alarm. This ensures the user completes a 360-degree walk around before sitting in the vehicle. If user activates the input receivers within the predetermined time period, then the vehicle safety system deactivates the alarm, allowing operator to sit in their seat without the alert being triggered.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 15, 2022Publication date: January 5, 2023Inventor: Kevin Goertz

Patent number: 9549010Abstract: In a networked system connecting a subscriber to a content source via one or more networks, a computer-implemented method includes instantiating a session model for a media session between the subscriber and the content source, the session model to generate session metadata from application-layer interactions between the subscriber and the content source. The method further includes instantiating an interaction model in response to detecting an application-layer interaction in a transport flow of the subscriber, the application-layer interaction comprising media data for the media session. The method also includes generating, at the interaction model, interaction metadata representative of the application-layer interaction, and processing at least one of the interaction metadata and the media data at the session model to generate session metadata responsive to matching the interaction model to the session model.Type: GrantFiled: September 17, 2013Date of Patent: January 17, 2017Assignee: NetScout Systems Texas, LLCInventors: Charles N. Samuell, Troy M. Gonsalves, Kevin Goertz, Roman C. Kordasiewicz

Patent number: 9485298Abstract: A device includes a frame data analyzer that generates buffer increment data based on frame data sent from the media server to the media client and further based on acknowledgement data sent from the media client to the media server. A playback data generator generates playback data based on frame data buffer contents and further based on player state data. A frame buffer model generator generates a buffer fullness indicator and the frame data buffer contents, based on the buffer increment data and the playback data. A player state generator generates the player state data, based on the buffer fullness indicator and further based on media client data, media server data and player command data.Type: GrantFiled: September 13, 2011Date of Patent: November 1, 2016Assignee: NetScout Systems Texas, LLCInventors: Anthony Peter Joch, Nicholas Ford, Roman Czeslaw Kordasiewicz, Kevin Goertz

Patent number: 9438494Abstract: Apparatus and methods for optimizing data transmission between two hosts via a network device. The network device initially allows a first connection to be established between the two host devices. This first connection is logically established directly between the host devices without modification by the network device. The network device analyzes data transmitted via the first connection and determines whether to allow the first connection to continue without intervention by the network device, or whether to split the connection into separate TCP connections with the network device as intermediary. The network device maintains connection state and emulates both host devices to allow the first connection to be split without disrupting the communication at either host device.Type: GrantFiled: December 21, 2012Date of Patent: September 6, 2016Inventors: Charles Neville Samuell, Richard Ryan Larocque, Kevin Goertz

Patent number: 9191284Abstract: Systems, methods and apparatus are provided for computing quality scores for a media session delivered using an adaptive streaming protocol, where the quality score may be an estimate of a mean opinion score. The quality score reflects the impact of network delivery on a viewer's quality of experience (QoE). In particular, the quality score is generally based on the effects of stream switch events, as stream switches may be the result of impaired network delivery. Other network events, such as re-buffering events may also be incorporated in the score.Type: GrantFiled: October 28, 2011Date of Patent: November 17, 2015Assignee: Avvasi Inc.Inventors: Roman Kordasiewicz, Anthony Joch, Kevin Goertz, Michael Gallant

Patent number: 9178633Abstract: An apparatus generally having an interface and a circuit is disclosed. The interface may be connectable to a network to monitor a media program streaming across the network to a media client. The circuit may be configured to (i) generate first information by modeling a buffer of the media client, the first information being representative of a plurality of events related to the buffer during a playback of the media program and (ii) generate a signal representative of a quality of experience of the media program in response to the first information.Type: GrantFiled: March 22, 2011Date of Patent: November 3, 2015Assignee: Avvasi Inc.Inventors: Roman C. Kordasiewicz, Kevin Goertz, Anthony P. Joch, Michael D. Gallant

Publication number: 20150222939Abstract: In accordance with one or more embodiments, monitoring system is presented that includes a monitoring device that extracts packet data of a data distribution network. A video network analyzer processes the packet data of the data distribution network to identify a media session that includes streaming video; analyzes the streaming video to identify an attribute associated with the streaming video; generates media session data that indicates the attribute in the streaming video; and generates policy and charging server interface data for controlling distribution of the streaming video, based on the media session data. Other embodiments are disclosed.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 30, 2015Publication date: August 6, 2015Applicant: Avvasi Inc.Inventors: Michael Gallant, Michael Archer, Kevin Goertz, Anthony Peter Joch, Roman Czeslaw Kordasiewicz

Publication number: 20130304934Abstract: Methods and systems for controlling quality of a media stream in a media session. The described methods and system control the quality of the media stream by controlling transcoding of the media session. The transcoding is controlled at the commencement of the media session and dynamically during the life of the media session. The transcoding is controlled by selecting a target quality of experience (QoE) for the media session, computing a predicted QoE for each of a plurality of control points, where each control point has a plurality of transcoding parameters associated therewith, selecting an control point of the plurality of control points, wherein the predicted QoE for the selected control point substantially corresponds with the target QoE and signaling the transcoder to use the selected control point for the media session.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 28, 2013Publication date: November 14, 2013Inventors: Anthony P.
