Patent number: 6722684Abstract: A trailer hitch that is capable of measuring or sensing the weight of trailer coupled thereto, or “tongue weight” is disclosed and described. In one aspect, the trailer hitch may include a ball slidably coupled to a post member and fastened thereto with a fastener that also acts as a weight indicator. In another aspect, the weight indicator may be provided as a separate mechanical output. Patent number: 6053280Abstract: A deck support may be created to hang from a top plate of a wall in residential or other construction. An upright or leg may provide support of the weight of the deck supported on a foot extending laterally from the leg. The foot may be provided with a climber attachment that secures the foot extending horizontally from the leg, and yet is readily adjustable without alignment, line-of-sight adjustment, removal or repositioning of pins, and the like. The apparatus may operate to support a user installing soffits, fascia, trusses and other assemblies near the upper portions of walls at any stage of construction. Adjustment may be done safely by a single user employing a single hand. Alignment and engagement are simple and automatic by the climber securing the foot to the leg. A hanger bracket may extend adjustably across the top plate of a wall to support the leg extending vertically therebelow.Type: GrantFiled: March 17, 1998Date of Patent: April 25, 2000Assignee: Wall Walker, LLCInventors: Fred P. Patent number: 6012895Abstract: A pair of elongate, segmented gripping members are carried by the lifting member of a refuse collection vehicle. Each of the gripping members includes an inner arm movably carried by the lifting member and an outer arm movably extending from the inner arm. The gripping members are movable between a retracted position in which the inner arms extend in generally opposite directions, fore and aft along the side of the vehicle, and an extended position in which the inner arms extend in generally the same direction laterally outward from the vehicle. Each outer arm is inwardly movable relative the respective inner arm to draw a container into the embrace of the gripping members. A pair of elongate flexible members engage the container to supplement the grip of the gripping members.Type: GrantFiled: December 7, 1998Date of Patent: January 11, 2000Assignee: The Heil Co.Inventors: Fred P. Smith, Marcel G. Stragier, Fred T. Smith, Kevin L. McAllister
