  • Patent number: 9137352
Abstract: A communications system allows audio, video, and data to be transmitted between a remote unit, a command unit, and alternate units. A person at the remote unit can receive and respond to voice communications through a provided handset. A person at the command unit can connect a compatible device, such as a headset, to the command unit in order to listen to and speak with a person at the remote unit. The command unit is capable of monitoring the area of the remote unit via hidden video cameras and microphones installed in the remote unit. Accessory modules can be installed in the remote unit or connected to the command unit to provide additional capabilities, such as voice-stress analysis, pulse monitoring, fingerprint identification, transcription, and translation. Additional modules can be connected to the command unit to allow separate groups to simultaneously access and participate in communications with the remote unit.

  • Patent number: 8055276
Abstract: A crisis response system including a throw module and a command unit connected by a communication cable. The throw module includes at least one covert video camera hidden from view. The covert video camera provides a video signal to the command unit showing the current conditions that exist in the immediate area surrounding the throw module. The throw module further includes a covert microphone hidden within the throw module that transmits an audio signal including the sounds occurring the immediate vicinity of the throw module. The crisis response system includes a cellular phone jamming circuit contained within the throw module that is selectively activated by a switch contained on the command unit. The cellular phone jamming circuit prevents cellular communication within a prescribed radius surrounding the throw phone.

  • Patent number: 7397368
Abstract: A communication and intelligence gathering system and method for monitoring a crisis scene from a remote command post. The system includes an access node positioned within communication range of multiple observation platforms that each provide information relating to the crisis scene, such as a video feed. The access node communicates with a main transfer module that relays the audio/video/data from the crisis scene to a main transfer module remotely positioned. A second main transfer module communicates with a field command post such that personnel at the field command post can monitor, react to and manage the crisis situation from the remote location. The access node position near the crisis scene also communications video and relevant information to field agents such that the field agents can monitor the video and information from a hand held/portable device.

  • Patent number: 7223175
Abstract: An expandable baton having a gripping tube, a center tube and a striking tube that collapse and are retained in the collapsed position by a top cap assembly. The top cap assembly includes at least one spring retainer that engages the inner surface of the striking tube to retain the baton in its retracted position. The amount of holding force created by the spring retainer to hold the baton in its retracted position is adjustable. The top cap assembly includes an adjustment stem having a tapered portion that engages the spring retainer. Movement of the tapered portion of the adjustment stem relative to the spring retainer adjusts the holding force created by the end cap.

  • Patent number: 7044858
Abstract: A self defense tool includes a tubular body provided with an axial bore and a removable closed handle end opposite a removable closed striking end. A variable weight holding arrangement is positioned inside the axial bore of the body between the handle and striking ends and is engageable with the striking end. The holding arrangement is adapted to retain at least one weight member inside the axial bore to selectively enable changing weight of the tool. The variable weight holding arrangement includes a stop disposed in the axial bore of the body, and a coil spring inserted in the axial bore and extending between the stop and striking end. The at least one weight member is adapted to be received in the axial bore and held between the spring and the striking end.

  • Patent number: 6442240
Abstract: A hostage negotiation system including a throw module and a command unit connected by a communication cable. The command unit receives the covert audio and covert video signals from the throw module and outputs the signals to a video monitor or other display device. Alternatively, the throw module can include a plurality of covert video cameras to provide a nearly 360° view of the area surrounding the throw module.
