  • Patent number: 6749592
Abstract: Featured is a pressure control regulator including a housing, a sealing member disposed within the housing, a flexible member and a biasing mechanism. The housing includes at least one inlet aperture and at least one outlet aperture, each inlet aperture being fluidly coupled to a first pressure source and each outlet aperture being fluidly coupled to a second pressure source, the first and second pressure sources being at different pressures. The flexible member extends between the sealing member outside surface and the housing inner surface so as to form a pressure boundary therebetween and to divide the housing interior into first and second compartments. The biasing mechanism, being responsive to pressure within the second compartment, acts on the sealing member so the sealing member is in one of an open position, when the second compartment is greater than a predetermined pressure value, or a closed position, when the second compartment pressure is at or below the predetermined pressure value.

  • Patent number: 6210391
Abstract: Featured is a rapid transfer autotransfusion device and a system using such a device. Also featured are methods related to the collection and/or the re-infusion of collected blood to a patient. The autotransfusion device includes an actuator handle assembly having two arms, a top plate, a bottom plate and a flexible container secured to and between opposing surfaces of the top and bottom plates. The bottom plate includes a projection from two opposing sides thereof, that each rotatably engage a lower portion of an actuator handle arm. The actuator handle rotates about the bottom plate projections between a first position and a second position. The actuator handle further includes a follower member, having a first and second portion, and a displacing mechanism that is disposed in at least one actuator handle arm, more particularly, disposed in each actuator handle arm.

  • Patent number: 5374194
Abstract: A Simulator of the cardio-vascular system is provided for use in open chest cardiac massage (OCCM) resuscitation technique instruction. A molded model of a heart is housed in a thoracic mannequin with synthetic skin pulled aside revealing the cardiac muscle as in a clinical situation. A system of valves and tubes modeling blood vessels connects the heart to inlet and outlet reservoirs simulating venous and arterial input and output supported by an adjustable stand. This device provides tactile feedback to the practitioner and permits variations in flow rates and pressures to simulate various cardiac conditions.
