  • Publication number: 20230150607
Abstract: A suspension restraint device can be used for releasably locking a front fork of a motorcycle. The suspension restraint device can include a hold down component and a cross member. The hold down component can include a hold down base and a plurality of a biased retention members (e.g., spring-loaded latching pin assemblies) received within the hold down base, the hold down base extending in a first direction. The cross member can be mounted to the hold down component between a corresponding pair of biased retention assemblies, the cross member extending in a second direction different than the first direction. The cross member and the hold down component can be configured to be further mounted to a motorcycle plastic component. At least one given biased retention assembly can be configured to releasably lock relative to the front fork of the motorcycle.

  • Patent number: 9682601
Abstract: A hold down system for a vehicle is described. The vehicle comprises a chassis biased by a suspension in a first direction away from a supporting surface. The hold down system comprises a base for attachment to a linkage arm of the suspension. The hold down system can further include a pin slidably coupled with the base, where the pin is extensible in a second direction away from the base. The pin can be biased in a third direction opposite the second direction and toward the base. The hold down system can also include a latching mechanism for attachment to the vehicle. The latching mechanism can be configured to latch the pin when the pin is extended in the second direction away from the base, and to release the pin in the third direction toward the base when the chassis is deflected in a fourth direction opposite the first direction.

  • Publication number: 20060237273
Abstract: Starting devices are provided that are adapted to help hold the front end of a motorcycle down, especially in a “hole shot” or starting applications. The devices allow a rider to compress the suspension fork of the motorcycle down by about 3 to about 4 inches and temporarily lock the fork in a given position. Certain variations provide for selection one of a number of positions. Lock-down and automatic release are accomplished by pushing in a spring loaded lock button while the fork struts are compressed. A pin member interfaces with a stop member located on the fork to prevent decompression of the fork. Upon further compression of the fork (e.g., due to braking) the pin is released and the spring member draws the pin out of the way to allow clearance for free fork travel.
