  • Patent number: 8484370
Abstract: A method and system for efficient extended data communications using a GPRS (General Packet Radio Service) carrier network. In a communications system having a server and client device coupled by a GPRS network, a communication session is initiated by the client. A combination of data packet transmission frequency adjustment and the transmission of “keep alive” packets are used to prevent carrier network time-out of the communication session. In multiple server environments such as those using load sharing, a queuing mechanism is provided for outbound messages to client devices.

  • Publication number: 20080034941
Abstract: One aspect of the present patent application is a musical instrument comprising a body, a bridge, a plurality of strings, a plurality of separate cables, a single cable, and a saddle. The plurality of strings extends from a first side to a second side of the bridge. Each of the plurality of strings is connected to one of the plurality of separate cables on the second side of the bridge. All of the plurality of separate cables are joined into the single cable. The single cable extends over the instrument's saddle along one path.

  • Publication number: 20060182055
Abstract: A wireless gateway is provided that connects mobile and remote assets or employees to business enterprise users through multiple wireless networks and the Internet by using web served applications. The central core of the gateway is a location aware business component that sends and receives location based information to and from remote and mobile assets and applies business logic to the location data to enhance and automate business applications run by the enterprise user. This functionality considerably exceeds that of a traditional wireless gateway, which simply manages messages passed through multiple wireless networks but does nothing with the content of the messages. The business logic component provides a common interface and protocol for handling location information and allows applications that follow the protocol to interface with the gateway to take advantage of location information by using location data to trigger events or to tag events, messages, or other data.

  • Publication number: 20060142913
Abstract: A vehicle fleet management information system identifies location and direction of movement of each vehicle in a fleet in real-time, and automatically reports such information, as well as status of predetermined events in which the vehicle is engaged, directly to the fleet manager. Each fleet vehicle has an assigned time slot to transmit its reporting information over a communications network without interfering with transmissions from other vehicles in their own respective time slots. A timing control phase lock loop (PLL) provides precise time synchronization for timing corrections from a global positioning system (GPS) based time reference. A dual band full-duplex interface of the network has TDMA on one-half and broadcast on the other half. Microprocessor time processing units in components of the network perform precise clock synchronization. Space diversity performed on received vehicle transmitted messages avoids data corruption.
