Patent number: 11755449Abstract: Systems and techniques are described for monitoring screen activity of a computing device and performing designated system actions based on the monitored activity. In some implementations, activity data indicating usage of a computing device by a user within a property over a particular time period is obtained. Sensor data collected by a monitoring system that monitors the property over the particular time period is then obtained. An activity monitoring rule that specifies (i) one or more conditions associated with usage of the computing device by the user, and (ii) an action to perform in response to satisfaction of the one or more conditions is identified. A determination that the activity data and the sensor data satisfy the one or more conditions specified by the activity monitoring rule is made. The action specified by the activity monitoring rule is then performed in response to the determination.Type: GrantFiled: June 1, 2018Date of Patent: September 12, 2023Assignee: Alarm.com IncorporatedInventors: Alison Jane Slavin, Charles Richard Alpert, Kevin Maurer, Aaron Lee Roberts, Stephen Scott Trundle

Patent number: 11701978Abstract: Systems and techniques are provided for charging devices at a property using battery-charging drones. In some implementations, a monitoring system is configured to monitor a property and includes a battery-powered sensor configured to generate sensor data. The system includes a drone that is configured to navigate the property and charge the battery-powered sensor. A monitor control unit is configured to obtain a battery level from the battery-powered sensor and compare the battery level to a battery level threshold. Based on the comparison, the monitor control unit determines that the battery level does not satisfy the threshold. Based on the determination, the monitor control unit generates and transmits an instruction to a drone for the drone to navigate to the battery-powered sensor and charge a battery of the battery-powered sensor. The monitor control unit receives data from the drone that indicates whether the drone charged the battery of the sensor.Type: GrantFiled: September 10, 2021Date of Patent: July 18, 2023Assignee: Alarm.com IncorporatedInventors: Kevin Maurer, Alison Jane Slavin, Aaron Lee Roberts, Shan Huang

Patent number: 10755730Abstract: Methods, systems, and apparatus, including computer programs encoded on a storage device, for beep detection and interpretation is disclosed. In one aspect, a monitoring system is disclosed that includes a processor and a storage device storing instructions that, when executed by the processor, causes the processor to perform operations. The operations may include obtaining sound data of audio sounds detected by a microphone that is located at the property, determining whether the sound data includes data representing one or more audio tones generated by a device, based on determining that the obtained sound data includes one or more audio tones generated by a device, generating an audio fingerprint of the sound data, determining, using the generated audio fingerprint, a state of the device that generated the one or more audio tones, and performing an operation based on the state of the device that generated the one or more audio tones.Type: GrantFiled: November 18, 2019Date of Patent: August 25, 2020Assignee: Alarm.com IncorporatedInventors: Kevin Maurer, Alison Jane Slavin, Innocent Djiofack, Stephen Scott Trundle

Patent number: 5619562Abstract: An arrangement (apparatus and method) for remotely activating service for subscribers in a public switched telephone network. A field technician telephones a voice response unit. The field technician supplies DTMF inputs to provide a subscriber telephone number and a service to be performed. The information input to the voice response unit is supplied via a Datakit network to a change processor. The change processor is previously stored with data identifying existing office equipment and facilities for selected subscribers, and new office equipment or facilities. The change processor generates recent change signals for a central office switch corresponding to the subscribers identified by the field technician. The recent change signals are supplied via the Datakit network to a switching control center system (SCCS) host processor, which distributes the recent change signals to the appropriate central office switch, as well as any facilities or maintenance databases.Type: GrantFiled: February 6, 1995Date of Patent: April 8, 1997Assignee: Bell Atlantic Network Services, Inc.Inventors: Kevin Maurer, Maria Castan, Thomas Cousin, Gilbert Spagnola, Kathleen M.
