  • Publication number: 20090305208
Abstract: A system for improving fine motor skills includes a stylus. An electronic tablet detects a position of the stylus (or finger) when the stylus is near a surface of the electronic tablet. A process defines and draws tolerance band on the electronic tablet. The tolerance band may be defined by a visual marker. The process may define a starting position and an end position within the tolerance band. The system includes an auto challenge module that determines if the user is ready to advance to a more difficult lesson. The system also includes an auditory association module that plays a sound associated with the shape. The system includes a foreign language module that teaches the user how to correctly write a foreign language. Finally, there is an analysis module that provides both instantaneous feedback and show the progress of the user over time.

  • Patent number: 5048620
Abstract: An apparatus for air rotary drilling in saturated unconsolidated deposits. It consists of a drill rod connected to a drill bit and a drill casing surrounding the drill rod which defines a well in a drilled region. A pressurized air source is connected to the drill rod, the drill rod having a bore for supplying air under pressure to the drill bit, to force air and material up the drill casing in an area defined between the drill rod and the drill casing. A rotary drive arrangement drives the drill rod in rotation to provide a drilling action in cooperation with the high pressure air, the high pressure air source providing high pressure air to the drill rod bore. A snorkel discharge arrangement discharges air and material from the space defined between the drill pipe and the drill rod.

  • Patent number: 4797762
Abstract: A Winchester disk drive assembly includes upper and lower mounting plates and shafts for the main drive motor assembly and for the head positioner firmly connected to both mounting plates. One end of the shafts is mounted to one of the mounting plates by a shouldered washer. A shouldered washer is mounted in a counterbored hole in the adjacent mounting plate and is firmly secured to the adjacent shaft end by a steel screw, with the dimensions of the washer being selected to provide space between the enlarged head portion of the washer, and the counterbore, so that the shaft is entirely stress-free. The space between the inner surface of the enlarged portion of the T-shaped washer and the counterbored recess is then filled with epoxy which bonds the two parts together. The shouldered washer then becomes an essential part of the adjacent mounting plate, and the mounting plate may be removed and separated from the shaft by removing the steel screw.
