  • Patent number: 10028448
Abstract: A method of stimulating plant growth in a controlled environment that includes providing a lighting assembly having a network of lighting elements such as light emitting diodes (LEDs) that provide light at a color tailored for an individual plant. The lighting assembly is positioned adjacent a plant such that the light produced is received by the plant. The lighting assembly additionally has a control assembly that includes driving circuitry that modulates the lighting elements to controllably provide predetermined periods of light and dark to stimulate continuous growth of the plant.

  • Publication number: 20170206773
Abstract: Techniques for facilitating one or more operating modes for monitoring of an intelligent home system are disclosed. The techniques facilitate detecting an adverse condition in a building, generating an alert based on the detection, sending a notification about the alert to a user (e.g., to a mobile device), awaiting a user response, and determining whether to send the alert to a central monitoring system to facilitate notification of an appropriate responder for the adverse condition. Determining whether to send the alert to the central monitoring system may be based on an affirmative command from the user or a failure to receive any command from the user. The user may be billed for the service of notifying an appropriate responder provided by central monitoring system regularly, intermittently when the user is away from the building, or on a per-alert basis.

  • Patent number: 9675054
Abstract: Lighting assemblies that provide spectrum specific underwater lighting to aquatic life. Each assembly has a vessel that receives a substrate secured to a heatsink and is enclosed by an end cap that provides a water tight seal. The end cap is sealingly secured to the vessel by a sealing element and has opening disposed therethrough for receiving an electrical connector that electrically connects lighting elements on the substrate to an exterior power source. The connector is sealingly disposed through the opening in the end cap to prevent the ingress of water within the vessel.

  • Patent number: 9344330
Abstract: In a computer-implemented method of generating event notifications, in-home data is received. The in-home data and environment data (e.g., weather, law enforcement, etc.) is generated by, or based on information generated by, a device located at a residence of an individual, and is analyzed to determine whether it is indicative of an event that should be reported to one or more neighboring residences and/or businesses. If the data is indicative of such an event, a notification is generated and transmitted to the relevant residences and/or businesses.

  • Patent number: 9279374
Abstract: Methods and systems are provided for recirculating compressed air across a compressor through a high flow and a low flow compressor recirculation path. Flow through the recirculation paths is controlled via respective valves and valve opening is adjusted based on a throttle mass flow so as to maintain a compressor flow rate at or above a surge constrained flow rate. By maintaining a sufficiently high compressor flow rate during steady state and transient conditions, the compressor state can be maintained outside a surge region.

  • Publication number: 20160014974
Abstract: A horticultural system having lighting elements pulsed with an off time proportional to the turnover time of the photosynthetic electron transport chain. The lighting elements emit light at a wavelength within 20 nm of a peak absorption of the pigment of the plant and are controlled to provide light at predetermined intervals as needed by the plant cause photosynthesis and reduce excess unproductive light.
