Abstract: A label cutter including a blade having a curved cutting edge configured and arranged to move towards a platen in order to cut a label material placed between them. The label cutter has a force applicator arranged and configured to apply a force to a portion of the blade in the direction of the platen. The label cutter includes an actuator operatively coupled to the force applicator and operable to cause the force applicator to move. The force applicator is moveable in order to, in use, apply a force to consecutive portions of the blade in the direction of the platen so as to provide a rolling engagement between the blade and the platen. A label issuing device including a label cutter is also provided.

Abstract: A linerless thermal sheet arranged as a roll, includes a substrate having a first face and a second face, whereby the first face opposes the second face; an adhesive layer on at least part of the first face of the substrate; a thermosensitive layer on at least part of the second face of the substrate, the thermosensitive layer including a first portion and a second portion whereby the first portion and the second portion do not overlap; a release coating applied onto the thermosensitive layer, the release coating has a low adherence to the adhesive layer; at least one colour image is deposited on the first portion of the thermosensitive layer such that the at least one colour image is between the thermosensitive layer and the release coating, whereby the second portion of the thermosensitive paper is blank for thermally-printed information.

Abstract: A method of making to deliveries to storage spaces at a storage installation involves the steps of: (i) by a central control system, providing delivery information to a portable device, wherein the delivery information includes at least one user credential and/or specific storage space requirements of the delivery; (ii) establishing communication between the portable device and an access control system included in the storage installation, wherein the communication is established when the portable device is in the proximity of the storage installation; and (iii) transferring delivery information to the access control system from the portable device.

Abstract: A method of operating a thermal printhead includes the steps of periodically determining a current value proportional to the resistance of printhead elements; providing a warning signal when the current value of any element exceeds a predetermined multiplier of the nominal value; and then modifying the operation of the printhead so that such element is energized only for the printing of a barcode within the printed area. An apparatus, especially a weighing apparatus, for carrying out such a method is also disclosed.
