Abstract: In one aspect, the invention is a shifter for a vehicle driven by an electric motor powered by a battery. The shifter includes a lever with one end adapted to accommodate the hand of a user and another end moveably attached to a base mounted on the vehicle. The base includes a mechanism biasing the lever into an equilibrium position and providing haptic feedback when moved in one direction out of the equilibrium position. The shifter also includes at least one sensor adapted to detect when the lever is moved in the one direction and to send a downshift signal to a processor. The processor is adapted to switch the motor to a power generation mode in response to the signal, thereby charging the battery and slowing the vehicle. The net effect is to simulate downshifting a manual transmission in a gas-powered vehicle. In another aspect, the base includes a mechanism providing haptic feedback when moved to one of a plurality of positions.

Abstract: An apparatus and a method are provided for a sports strategy system, comprising a processor. Storage media is communicatively coupled to the processor, and the storage media includes logic configured to display a graphical user interface comprising a strategy vista interface. The graphical user interface features one or more sport-specific elements and a score region. Player attribute logic is included to store a plurality of player profiles that correspond to a plurality of players in a sports game. Matrix logic is configured to store all potential game outcomes, and filter application logic is configured to store offensive and defensive filters so as to provide one or more game scenarios.

Abstract: The present invention provides a method for identifying a biomarker for diagnosis of lymphoma in a canine subject. The method comprises the following steps: (i) providing serum samples from canine subjects with lymphoma (lymphoma samples); (ii) providing serum samples from canine subjects free from lymphoma (control samples); (iii) fractionating the protein components in the serum samples provided in steps (i) and (ii) using anion exchange chromatography; (iv) further purifying proteins from the fractionated samples produced in step (iii) by contacting the proteins therein with a SELDI protein chip comprising a cation exchange surface; (v) characterising the proteins adhered to the cation exchange surface of the SELDI protein chip in step (iv) using mass spectrometry; and (vi) performing a classification and regression tree (CART) analysis to identify proteins capable of acting as biomarkers, either alone or in combination with other proteins.
