  • Publication number: 20240083192
Abstract: The instant disclosure is directed to a heterogeneous fiber fluid reservoir for holding and delivering fluid. A reservoir may comprise a rod having a core component and a surrounding component. Each of the core component and the surrounding component may comprise fibers. The core component may have a first property, and the surrounding component may have a second property different from the first property, or the core component and the surrounding component may each have a different value or range of values for the same property. Alternatively, a reservoir may comprise a rod that includes fibers and has a cross-sectional diameter. At least one property of the rod may vary in value along the cross-sectional diameter of the rod. The property may include, for example, fiber bulk density, fiber diameter, fiber material, fiber morphology, fiber surface tension, capillary force, fluid absorption capacity, color, or combinations thereof.

  • Publication number: 20100176210
Abstract: This invention provides a hydrophilic porous fiber wick for delivering vaporizable material into the atmosphere, such as a room environment. The wick may be biodegradable. The wick is comprised of a sintered synthetic bicomponent fibers, optionally combined with synthetic monocomponent fibers or natural monocomponent fibers. The wick is optionally treated with plasma or finishing agents for improved hydrophilicity. The wick can wick aqueous and/or non-aqueous-based fragrances or other vaporizable materials and evaporate them into the air without the use of heat, convection air, or atomization.

  • Publication number: 20090136705
Abstract: The present invention provides compositions and methods addressing the problems and disadvantages associated with orienting articles prior to disposition in a housing. Compositions and methods of the present invention, in some embodiments, can provide articles with the proper orientation for disposition in a housing without the encumbrances associated with hand assembly, such as increased production time and increased potential for contamination. As a result, manufacturers and users of products comprising polymeric articles disposed in housings are no longer restricted to the use of articles having isotropic shapes and homogeneous properties.
