Patent number: 11944289Abstract: Articulating surgical instruments are disclosed. In one embodiment, a surgical instrument may include an elongated shaft assembly including an articulable portion moveable between a non-articulated configuration and an articulated configuration. First and second articulating shafts of the elongated shaft assembly may be coaxially arranged and axially fixed at an attachment point located distally from the articulable portion. Proximal portions of the first and second articulating shafts may be displaceable in opposing directions to articulate the articulable portion from the non-articulated configuration to the articulated configuration. In another embodiment, an articulation control may be movable from a first position to a second position to move an articulation lock from a locked configuration to an unlocked configuration to selectively permit articulation of a surgical instrument. The articulation lock also may be movable from the second position to a third position to articulate the surgical instrument.Type: GrantFiled: August 12, 2021Date of Patent: April 2, 2024Assignee: C.R. Publication number: 20240097939Abstract: In accordance with a designation of a private alias endpoint as a routing target for traffic directed to a service from within an isolated virtual network of a provider network, a tunneling intermediary receives a baseline packet generated at a compute instance. The baseline packet indicates a public IP (Internet Protocol) address of the service as the destination, and a private IP address of the compute instance as the source. In accordance with a tunneling protocol, the tunneling intermediary generates an encapsulation packet comprising at least a portion of the baseline packet and a header indicating the isolated virtual network. The encapsulation packet is transmitted to a node of the service.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 11, 2023Publication date: March 21, 2024Applicant: Amazon Technologies, Inc.Inventors: Kevin Christopher Miller, Richard Alexander Sheehan, Douglas Stewart Laurence, Marwan Salah El-Din Oweis, Andrew Bruce Dickinson

Publication number: 20240078129Abstract: An example non-transitory machine-readable medium includes instructions that cause a processor of a computing device to create a first virtual machine using a hypervisor, execute a trusted basic input/output system (BIOS) in the first virtual machine, create a second virtual machine using the hypervisor, and execute an untrusted BIOS component in the second virtual machine. The first virtual machine is executed with a greater privilege to access a resource of the computing device than the second virtual machine.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 29, 2021Publication date: March 7, 2024Applicant: Hewlett-Packard Development Company, L.P.Inventors: Christopher Howard Stewart, Richard Alden Bramley, Jr., James Misra McKenzie, Krzysztof Tadeusz Uchronski, Gianluca Guida, Christopher Ian Dalton, Jeffrey Kevin Jeansonne

Patent number: 11525327Abstract: Apparatus and method for securing and sealing a tubular portion to another tubular to provide a liner hanger in oil and gas wells. At the top of the liner string, a sleeve is arranged on the liner to create a chamber therebetween. A port provides fluid access through the liner to the chamber. When fluid is introduced into the chamber the sleeve is morphed to secure it to the cemented casing. A lower fluid pressure is required to morph the sleeve than if the liner itself was to be morphed. Embodiments are provided for securing and sealing arrangements to increase the metal to metal seal and the load capability between the liner string and casing.Type: GrantFiled: May 21, 2015Date of Patent: December 13, 2022Assignee: SCHLUMBERGER TECHNOLOGY CORPORATIONInventors: Andrew John Joseph Gorrara, Kevin Stewart

Publication number: 20220266065Abstract: Multi-story retrofitting building escape units. In aspects, the units are prefabricated and may be stacked. In embodiments, water or other fire-deterrent liquid or foam may be stored or delivered in tubular legs of the unit or tubes with in the legs. A hose or other mechanism to apply the water or other liquid is located in one more units. Each unit comprises stairs that link up with stairs on units above or below so occupants can climb down, for example, and emergency personnel can climb up, for example. In aspects, one or more walls of the unit are fire walls or otherwise fire-retardant, fire-proof, or fire-resistant.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 7, 2020Publication date: August 25, 2022Applicant: Prescape Towers, Ltd.Inventor: KEVIN STEWART

DETERMINING EFFICIENT PICKUP LOCATIONS FOR TRANSPORTATION REQUESTS UTILIZING A PICKUP LOCATION MODEL
Publication number: 20210049911Abstract: This disclosure describes a pickup location determination system that determines a pickup location for a received transportation request by filtering out door points based on various factors and by utilizing a pickup location model to select a pickup location from the filtered door points. For example, the disclosed systems generate door points relative to intersection points within a request radius of a request location associated with a received transportation request. The disclosed systems generate potential pickup locations by filtering out door points that are impractical and/or inefficient based on proximity to other door points, locations relative to venues, locations relative to side streets, and/or locations between parallel road segments (e.g., medians). The disclosed systems further utilize a pickup location model to select a pickup location from the potential pickup locations.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 13, 2019Publication date: February 18, 2021Inventors: John Torres Fremlin, Michael Sasha Frumin, Dorian Anthony Goldman, Man Geen Harold Li, Akshay Ramesh Patil, David Halsted Riege, Kevin Stewart, Alexander Michael Weinstein -
