The lower aspect of the main panel consists of a seat compartment with a belt around the waist to secure the baby in place. The purpose of the seat compartment is to fit a seat insert to receive the baby's weight when being carried in the carrier. The waist belt can also be attached to and detached from the main panel with the seat compartment by way of an interlocking mechanism.
