  • Patent number: 11881957
Abstract: The method comprises the steps of: the Policy and Charging Rules Function (PCRF) receiving (Step 1) user's subscription information, in order to determine an initial policy; the Policy and Charging Enforcement Function (PCEF) applying (Step 2) the initial rules; the Policy and Charging Enforcement Function (PCEF) triggering (Step 3) the Extended Online Charging System (EOCS) for the user's service/network resource usage; the Extended Online Charging System (EOCS) rating and charging (step 4) the user, in real time; the Extended Online Charging System (EOCS) triggering (Step 5) a change of policy in the Policy and Charging Rules Function (PCRF); the Policy and Charging Rules Function (PCRF) determining (Step 6) new rules for the new policy; the Policy and Charging Enforcement Function (PCEF) receiving (Step 7) the new rules and applying them.

  • Patent number: 11088859
Abstract: A method for delivering dynamic policy rules for an end user of a communication service during a communication session is provided. The method includes receiving subscription information at a Policy and Charging Rules Function (PCRF) in order to determine an initial policy; applying the initial rules via a Policy and Charging Enforcement Function (PCEF); triggering an Extended Online Charging System (EOCS) for the user's service/network resource usage; rating and charging the user via the EOCS in real time; triggering a change of policy in a change notification from the EOCS to the PCRF; determining new rules for the new policy at the PRCF; receiving the new rules and applying them at the PCEF.

  • Patent number: 8831560
Abstract: Systems and methods are disclosed for performing Policy and Charging Control (PCC) for packet core networks. One embodiment comprises a PCC architecture that includes an online charging system (OCS). The OCS receives a request for charging rules for an initial data service from a PCRF. The request from the PCRF includes a service indicator for the initial data service. The OCS selects a charging method for the initial data service based on the service indicator, and transmits a response to the PCRF that includes the selected charging method. The PCRF may then make a PCC decision based on the charging method selected by the OCS, and a PCEF may enforce PCC rules for the initial data service. If there is a service changing during a data session, the OCS selects a charging method for the new data service, and the PCRF updates the PCC rules accordingly.
