  • Patent number: 5036357
Abstract: The number of copied sheets of paper accommodated in a staple tray for stapling process are counted by a counter. A transport path changeover member is switched over from a guide position to convey copy paper to the staple tray to a guide position to convey the copy paper to another discharge tray where stapling process is not performed corresponding to the counter value reaching the limit of stapling process. The copied sheets are, thereafter, guided to the discharge tray to continue on copying operation.

  • Patent number: 5008714
Abstract: An image duplicating apparatus having an automatic document feed device. The document feed device is movable between an opened and a closed position, and is operable to automatically convey documents to a document support table of an image forming device, and to automatically discharge documents from the document support table after images from the documents have been copied by the image forming device. An automatic document discharge prohibit instruction is produced by a control arrangement of the apparatus when a document is manually placed on the document support table, however a document discharge instruction may be manually entered to override the prohibit instruction, if desired by an operator of the apparatus.

  • Patent number: 4897697
Abstract: A copying machine includes first and second developing units, each of which contains different color developer. The copy machine is capable of developing an electrostatic latent image on the surface of a photoconductor through individual or successive operation of the first and second developing units. An arrangement is provided for counting the number of copying operations that each developing unit is subjected to during a single scan of the scanning device. The arrangement increases the count values associated with the first developer unit when the first developer unit is operated individually, and increases the count value associated with the second developer unit when the second developer unit is operated individually. Further, the arrangement increases the count value associated with the first and second developer units when both developer units are operated together.

  • Patent number: 4885611
Abstract: An image forming apparatus equipped with a plurality of developing units respectively using different color toners, and capable of forming a two-color image. The image forming apparatus is able to operate selectively in a first image forming mode for forming a single-color image, and in a second image forming mode for forming a two-color image. In the second image forming mode, sections of a latent image respectively corresponding to previously demarcated sections of the contact glass are developed in two different colors by operating the two developing units in an appropriate sequence. Selection of the second image forming mode is inhibited and an alarm signal is provided when only one of the plurality of developing units is mounted in place on the frame of the image forming apparatus.

  • Patent number: 4866486
Abstract: A copying machine capable of executing a divisional copy mode (book copy mode) wherein an original of two image sides, i.e., two open-out successive pages of a book is copied separately based on one copy instruction and a simul-color copy mode wherein a copy image of two or more colors can be obtained by changing over the developing units to be used during one copying operation. To execute the simul-color copy mode, the copying machine includes a color dividing position for dividing one of image sides into a plurality of color regions. In the case where the divisional copy mode and simul-color copy mode are simultaneously designated, two image sides are separately copied, and also, one of the image sides in which the color dividing position exists is copied to obtain a multi-color copy image by the simul-color copy mode.

  • Patent number: 4849789
Abstract: An image duplicating apparatus having a document table for supporting a document sheet thereon divides an image area of the document into two sections and successively duplicates the respective images of the two sections onto two separate copy surfaces. Switches specify the ratio by which an image on the document sheet is to be magnified or reduced for. An image magnification/reduction lens unit responds to the switches for altering a currently established magnification or reduction ratio to the newly specified ratio of magnification or reduction. A control circuit controls the duplicating means so that, when the magnification or reduction ratio is altered prior to termination of the duplication of a first one of the two sections, a second one of the two sections is copied in the altered magnification or reduction ratio.

  • Patent number: 4811053
Abstract: An image forming apparatus having a presettable counter and a display device for displaying the contents of the counter, in such arrangement that when copying operation is carried out in the automatic paper feed mode, the content of the counter is decreased by "1" at a time, and when copying is made in the manual paper feed mode, the content of the counter is increased by "1" at a time. For operation in the automatic feed mode, as is the case with the prior-art arrangement, a required number of copies to be made is preset into the counter and the remaining necessary number of copies to be made is displayed on the display device. When operation is performed in the manual feed mode, the number of copies already made is preset in the counter, and when the contents of the counter reaches the required total number of copies, paper feeding will be stopped.
