  • Patent number: 5532450
Abstract: An apparatus for manufacturing a single welded panel from a plurality of material panels by abutting together the material panels using a welder member and irradiating the abutted edges with a welding beam. The apparatus includes two or more bases each provided for each type of welded panel to be manufactured and for supporting the welder member and material panels for the each type of welded panel, and guide rails for guiding one of the bases to a welding beam irradiation region, whereby two or more different types of welded panels can be manufactured.

  • Patent number: 5464474
Abstract: A cleaning apparatus for removing foreign matters from workpieces in the form of strips or sheets cut from a larger blank, before the workpiece is subjected to a press forming operation, which apparatus includes a feeding device for feeding the successive workpieces, de-oiling rolls disposed in an upstream portion of a feed path of the workpieces as seen in a feeding direction and rotated in pressing rolling contact with the surfaces of each workpiece as each workpiece is fed, so as to remove by absorption oily substances from the surfaces of the workpiece, and tacky rolls disposed downstream of the de-oiling rolls as seen in the feeding direction and rotated in pressing rolling contact with the surfaces of the workpiece, so as to remove by tackiness thereof the foreign matters from the surfaces of the workpiece.

  • Patent number: 5283415
Abstract: Sheared steel sheet materials are abutted against each other with burrs of the steel sheet materials directed in the same direction. A laser beam is irradiated onto the abutment portion of the assembly of the steel sheets from the sagging side of the assembly. At the same time, a filler wire is supplied to the abutment portion from the same side as the laser beam irradiation. The steel sheet materials are joined together to form a press material. Then, the press material is set in a press machine in a direction that a surface of the press material opposite to the laser beam irradiated surface, faces the exterior when stamped and mounted to a vehicle. Then, the press material is stamped and is formed into a vehicle panel.

  • Patent number: 5261808
Abstract: A shaping apparatus utilizing liquid pressure includes a base constructed of a single member and including a lower die and a lower clamp which surrounds the lower die and is integral with the lower die, an upper clamp movable in a vertical direction above the lower clamp, and an upper die or punch movable in the vertical direction above the lower die. The upper die has a lower surface with a configuration to which a workpiece to be formed is pressformed. The lower surface of the upper die and the upper surface of the lower die define a cavity filled with liquid except for a small air pocket when the upper die is lowered. When the upper die is lowered, the upper die contacts and deforms the workpiece. At the same time, the liquid is contained under pressure in the cavity and presses the workpiece against the lower surface of the upper die so that the workpiece is formed precisely to the configuration of the lower surface of the upper die by the contained liquid.
