  • Patent number: 4586876
Abstract: A fluid compressor comprises a cylinder block, a driving shaft rotatably mounted in the cylinder block by means of thrust bearings and radial bearings, an inclined disk rigidly secured to the driving shaft, pistons slidably disposed in cylinder bores formed in the cylinder block, and shoes for operably connecting the inclined disk to the pistons, which are reciprocally moved in the cylinder bores when the inclined disk is rotated to pressurize gaseous fluid for cooling. In order to accommodate the inclined disk, the cylinder block has a housing, which is provided with recesses or grooves on the opposite axial end surfaces to catch the lubrication oil flowing along the inner wall of the housing. Oil ports or passages are also provided for introducing the oil from the recesses or grooves to the radial bearings. Sliding bearings may be used as the radial bearings. Such a sliding bearing may be provided with an oil guide groove or ball indents on the inner peripheral wall thereof.

  • Patent number: 4573878
Abstract: A variable-delivery compressor of a swashplate type having compression chambers wherein compression is effected by reciprocating movements of double-headed pistons slidably engaging a rotating swashplate in a cylinder block. The cylinder block defines compression chambers in cooperation with front and rear valve plates which have discharge ports communicating with front and rear discharge chambers one of which serves as delivery-adjusting discharge chamber. Delivery-adjusting discharge valves are disposed in the delivery-adjusting discharge chamber and carried by an actuator member which is movable between operative and inoperative positions at which the delivery-adjusting valves are operative and inoperative to close and open the discharge ports in the corresponding valve plate. The corresponding valve plate comprises a portion defining a recess opposite to each delivery-adjusting discharge valve.

  • Patent number: 4522567
Abstract: A swash plate compressor especially suited for automotive vehicles. The inner housing may be moved in the rear housing in the front and rear direction, as the occasion may demand, for adjusting the compression capacity or performance of the compressor. A partition wall is projectingly projected at the front side of the inner housing for defining an inner or discharge chamber and an outer or suction chamber. A plurality of clamp bolts for fixedly clamping together a rear cylinder block and the rear housing are passed through said suction chamber. The rear wall of the inner housing is formed with an annular thin-walled portion lesser in thickness than the valve plate on the front surface of said inner housing. By the function of said thin-walled portion, the inner housing may be flexed readily to absorb valve plate strain.

  • Patent number: 4474542
Abstract: An automobile air conditioner unit is provided with a compressor equipped with a number of compression chambers. At the start of air conditioner operation, less than all of these compression chambers are operated to avoid liquid compression. After start up, the number of compression chambers in operation will depend upon the air conditioning load, with a fewer number of chambers being operable at times when the load is low, as during temperature maintainance, as opposed to initial cool-down.

  • Patent number: 4420986
Abstract: Disclosed is a sliding shoe for a rotatable swash-plate type refrigerant gas compressor. This shoe is slidably connected between a rotatable swash-plate and a ball rotatably engaged with a piston. One of the major surfaces of the shoe slidably contacts a sliding surface of the swash-plate. A sliding surface of the shoe facing the swash-plate is formed with a flat plane at its center portion and chamfered surface at the remaining portion of the sliding surface. At least the sliding plane of the shoe is coated with a lead alloy. According to the present invention, even if the swash-plate type compressor has no lubrication, abrasion and seizing of the shoe can be reduced to a great extent.

  • Patent number: 4381178
Abstract: A swash-plate type compressor wherein a plurality of pistons fitted into a plurality of cylinder bores having their center on a circle are reciprocated by a swash-plate secured to a rotary shaft at a tilt angle. A swash-plate chamber rotatably accommodating the swash-plate concurrently functions as a passage for the refrigerant gas sucked, and an annular refrigerant gas passage, whose external diameter is larger than that of a circumcircle of the aforementioned cylinder bores and whose inner side is open to the swash-plate chamber, is formed on the external side of the swash-plate chamber. This annular passage for the refrigerant gas sucked functions as a by-pass therefor, diminishes the flow resistance of the refrigerant gas, and facilitates the cooling of the pistons with a result of reducing the operation noise produced from the engaging portion of the pistons and the swash-plate.

  • Patent number: 4307998
Abstract: Shoes for operatively connecting a swash-plate with the compression pistons of a swash-plate type compressor are made from a novel Cu-based alloy. Improved shoes are characterized by a combination of high heat conductivity and excellent wear resistance properties particularly when subjected to a lubricating condition so severe that no lubricating oil is supplied to the surface of the shoes at the initial period of the compressor operation. At least three alloying elements are selected from Mn, Si, Pb, Sn, the IVb and VIb groups of the periodic table, and added in predetermined amounts to the Cu-based alloy, so that the properties mentioned above are simultaneously obtained. The compressor according to the present invention can be reliably employed, without the occurrence of seizure over a long operational period for air-conditioning vehicles, in which the sliding condition of the shoes is drastically varied with the rotation of the engine.

  • Patent number: 4127363
Abstract: A swash-plate type compressor wherein a valve plate confronting an oil reservoir is provided with a vertical oil passage therein which is communicated with the oil reservoir via a relatively large through-bore formed at the lower end thereof, and is also provided with a gas inducing bore of a small diameter at a slightly higher position than the oil level in the oil reservoir for communicating therewith. By means of advantageously utilizing the pressure difference between the inside of the oil reservoir and that of the suction chamber as well as the centrifugal force caused by the rotation of the driving shaft and the swash-plate, the oil in the reservoir can be carried up together with the blow-up gas to each of the places requiring appropriate lubrication through two of the passages for the mixture of gas and oil, tandem arranged, large diametered and then small diametered, bored through the driving shaft, and a plurality of oil distribution bores formed in the boss of the swash-plate.

  • Patent number: 4070136
Abstract: A multi-piston swash plate type compressor, in which there is provided an improved internal arrangement for lubricating internal moving elements, especially steel ball bearings and shoes connecting the swash plate and the multi-pistons. The improved internal arrangement for lubricating the steel ball bearings and shoes comprises providing means for directly introducing a part of said oil particles suspended in the refrigerant gas which rushes into the combined block from the exterior of the compressor through one or more inlet ports formed in the combined block, into a swash plate chamber for rotatably mounting the swash plate therein, whereby the oil particles lubricate said ball bearings and shoes during operation of the compressor. The improved internal arrangement further contributes to effective employment of the blow-by refrigerant gas for distribution of oil lubricant to the cylinder bores along with said internal moving elements.
