    Abstract: A method of development includes providing a mixture of non-magnetic developer particles and magnetic particles in a developer supply container, carrying the mixture on an insulating surface of an endlessly movable developer carrying member and confining the magnetic particles within the developer supply container by cooperation of a magnetic pole of a fixed magnetic field generator and a magnetic particle confining member. The method also includes providing an electrode opposed to, and extending in a longitudinal direction of, the carrying member, applying a developer application signal between the electrode and the developer carrying member to apply the developer particles only to such an area as corresponds to application of the developer application signal, and developing a latent image on a latent image bearing member with the thus applied developer particles.

    Abstract: An image forming apparatus provided with an image transfer discharger for electrostatically transferring the toner image from an image bearing member to a transfer material. It is further provided with charge removing member for removing charge so as to allow the electrostatically attached transfer material from the image bearing member. The charge removing electrode is supplied with a bias voltage from a power source for the developing device, thus the additional means required for the charge removing electrode is minimized. The discharging electrode extends from a bottom of a recess formed by an insulating member. The recess is larger away from the free end of the discharging electrode toward the outside.

    Abstract: An image forming apparatus includes an image bearing member on which a toner image is formed. The toner image is transferred onto a transfer material by contacting the transfer material to the image bearing member and applying corona discharge to the back side of the transfer material. The present invention is characterized by the charge removing needles to which a particular voltage is applied. The voltage is such that the discharge occurs between the charge removing electrode needles and the back side of the transfer material when it is present, or the surface of the image bearing member when it is absent only when the transfer corona discharger is operated, and therefore, the air surrounding the needles is ionized. Thus, the discharge does not occur when the transfer charger is not operated, but occurs automatically when the transfer charger is operated.

    Abstract: A corona discharging device having a corona discharging electrode to which a high voltage is applied to produce corona discharge. The high voltage applied to the corona discharging electrode is provided by superposing an AC voltage to a DC voltage. The DC voltage and the AC voltage are determined such that the corona discharging current has only the polarity which is the same as that of the DC component voltage. The corona discharge is stabilized and hardly produces a non-uniform discharge.

Upon release of the partition member, the first developer forms a base layer on the carrying member and the second developer forms on the base layer and then, upon circulation of the carrying member the second developer is moved past the regulating member.
