  • Patent number: 5821451
Abstract: The invention relates to a photoflash mixture comprising a mixture of particles of zirconia and at least one oxidizer, wherein said zirconia particles comprise a mixture of smaller particles between about 2 and 10 .mu.m diameter, and larger particles between about 20 and 30 .mu.m average diameter.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: December 19, 1996
Date of Patent: October 13, 1998
    Assignee: Eastman Kodak Company
Inventors: Stanley W. Stephenson, Kimon Papadopoulos
  • Patent number: 5670086
Abstract: Vitrified phosphor articles, intermediates, and methods for preparing the articles. In the methods, a combination of species are admixed. The combination of species are precursors for a glass-forming system. The glass-forming system includes precursors for a crystalline radiographic phosphor. The admixed combination of species are fired to form a melt having a single liquid. The product of the melt is molten-shaped.

    Assignee: Eastman Kodak Company
Inventors: Kimon Papadopoulos, Kurt D. Sieber
  • Patent number: 5576162
Abstract: Imaging elements, such as photographic, electrostatographic and thermal imaging elements, are comprised of a support, an image-forming layer and an electrically-conductive layer comprising a dispersion of carbon nanofibers in a film-forming binder. Use of carbon nanofibers provides a controlled degree of electrical conductivity and beneficial chemical, physical and optical properties which adapt the electrically-conductive layer for such purposes as providing protection against static or serving as an electrode which takes part in an image-forming process.
    Type: Grant

Date of Patent: November 19, 1996
    Assignee: Eastman Kodak Company
    Inventor: Kimon Papadopoulos
  • Patent number: 4575230
Abstract: A transparent contoured support plate for use in a printing gate is disclosed which comprises a transparent glass or plastic plate having a smoothly contoured raised central area. This contoured raised area is intended to support the central area of a flexible photographic material, the edges of which are constrained by a mount having an open aperture.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: March 21, 1985
Date of Patent: March 11, 1986
    Assignee: Eastman Kodak Company
Inventors: John F. Carson, Kimon Papadopoulos
  • Patent number: 4395432
Abstract: Disclosed is a method of coating a substrate with .beta.-alumina, a compound of alumina and an alkali metal oxide, while maintaining its electrically conductive properties. A powdered mixture is formed of the .beta.-alumina and a carbonate of the alkali metal. The mixture is sprayed through a source of heat sufficient to melt it onto the substrate. A plasma spray torch can be used to melt spray the mixture.
