  • Patent number: 5129430
Abstract: A weft processing apparatus for a jet loom comprises a first weft length measuring device installed at the far or downstream side of the warp shed through which the weft is inserted for measuring the length of a broken weft yarn piece. A weft withdrawal device for withdrawing a defective weft that has undergone abnormal insertion is provided at the entrance side of the warp shed. The length of the defective weft withdrawn by the withdrawal device is measured by a second weft length measuring device. A second weft withdrawal device may be provided at the far side of the warp shed for making it possible to measure the length of a broken weft yarn piece that might remain within the warp shed.

  • Patent number: 4890650
Abstract: An apparatus and its method of operation whereby when a jet loom is deenergized upon occurrence of abnormality in the insertion of a weft, the cutting operation of an inserted weft cutting device is prevented. As a result, a weft succeeding to the misinserted one is forcibly introduced into a weft introducing duct under blowing action of a blow nozzle oriented in a direction intersecting the weft insertion direction to be transferred to a pair of gripper rollers. The weft is separated by cutting from a weft inserting main nozzle by a second weft cutter device. Subsequently, the misinserted weft is withdrawn in the direction away from a cloth fell toward a reed with inclination relative to the weft insertion path within a region where the weft remains out of contact with warps.

  • Patent number: 4784191
Abstract: A device for storing a weft yarn for inserting in a jet loom, which is provided with a weft yarn retaining surface, is movable relative to a feed nozzle, for receiving a weft yarn ejected from the feed nozzle. The device is characterized in that a blacking member is arranged in such a manner that one end of the member is engaged with the weft yarn retaining surface at a depositing zone adjacent to the feed nozzle so as to block the fluid from the nozzle as would otherwise disturb the yarn deposited on the retaining surface. A gap is formed between the weft yarn retaining surface and the cover, which gap increases as a position moves away from the depositing zone towards the side where the stored weft yarn is withdrawn.

  • Patent number: 4463783
Abstract: In a jet loom in which a weft yarn is inserted through the warp shed by a jet of fluid such as air, the thickness of the weft yarn is detected prior to insertion continuously or at intervals with a yarn thickness detector, and the pressure of ejection of the fluid jet is controlled by a result of such detection so as to be optimum for the weft insertion. The jet of fluid is ejected from a nozzle member under the controlled pressure to insert the weft yarn reliably without insertion failures.

  • Patent number: 4291528
Abstract: An open end spinning machine includes a plurality of spinning units, in each of which a sliver is opened by a carding roller and transported, in the form of individually opened fibers, into a spinning rotor through a fiber supply channel provided in a housing for the carding roller. The supply channel has a mouth opening towards the carding roller with a fiber separating edge, which is greatly subject to wear during operation of the spinning unit. A portion of the carding roller housing, which defines at least the fiber separating edge, is detachable from another portion of the housing and is urged in a predetermined direction by a biassing spring so that any undesirable clearance, which would be produced between the portions of the housing by structurally separating them from each other, can substantially removed.

  • Patent number: 4254612
Abstract: An open-end spinning frame comprises a fiber feeding mechanism, constructed with a feed foller and a presser urged towards the feed roller, a combing roller having a metallic wire wound therearound, a rotor for spinning the fibers delivered from the combing roller, and a pair of flat side plates. The feeding mechanism is provided with a passage for flowing air current, which passage is formed by chamfering the side of the presser, by shortening the width of the feed roller or by forming only one projection at the front end of the presser. Through the air current flowing passage, one or more flow-in air currents flow so that the accumulation of fibers does not occur easily.

  • Patent number: 4244176
Abstract: A device for waxing a yarn in a spinning machine which includes an annular wax roll, and means for rotatably supporting the wax roll. The support means includes a solid cylindrical member integrally connected to the wax roll so as to project from one end of the wax roll, and a support spindle associated with the cylindrical member for allowing the integral rotation of the cylindrical member and the wax roll. The waxing device is disposed that the yarn, which travels from a supply of yarn to a yarn winding-up mechanism, contacts both the projected periphery of the cylindrical member and the one end of the wax roll. The rotation of the wax roll is caused mainly by the yarn contacting the solid cylindrical member so that the wax roll is not adversely affected by the yarn even when changes occur in the travel condition of the yarn, so that no grooves or concaved lines are formed in the end face of the wax roll.

  • Patent number: 4149678
Abstract: Disclosed is an open-end spinning machine which comprises a feed roller and a top roller for positively feeding a spun yarn from a spinning unit, a traverse guide for traversing the spun yarn in a direction perpendicular to the spun yarn feeding direction, a winding drum for frictionally rotating a conical surface bobbin for winding the traversed yarn to form a conical cheese, a guide or guides for absorbing yarn path length variations caused by the traverse motion of the spun yarn and by the conical angle of the conical cheese during the winding operation, a device for adjusting the guide in response to the conical angle of the conical cheese. By utilizing this machine, a good-shaped conical cheese of an open-end spun yarn having a uniform hardness along the axial direction of the cheese is obtained. • Patent number: 4105165
Abstract: A yarn handling machine includes bobbins on which yarns are wound, forming cheeses. At the beginning of the yarn winding operation, transfer tail windings must be provided on the end of the bobbin. An arrangement for providing transfer tail windings includes a yarn guide movable between an operative position closely adjacent to the bobbin and an inoperative position spaced from the bobbin sufficient to prevent interference of the yarn guide with the formation of the cheese. In the operative position, the yarn guide serves for providing the transfer tail windings.

  • Patent number: 4060207
Abstract: A yarn winding mechanism includes a reference point through which the yarn always passes during yarn piecing-up and normal winding operations, a pair of yarn taking-out rollers disposed above the reference point, and a traversing device from which the yarn is wound onto a cone cheese. In order to cause the winding mechanism to soon begin and then continue the normal winding operation after completion of the yarn piecing-up, a device for compensating changes in yarn tension is disposed between the traversing device and the yarn taking-out rollers with a yarn guide surface extending generally parallel to the axis of the taking-out roller, and the upper taking-out roller is formed with a yarn catch in one end face edge thereof on the larger diameter side of the cone cheese, the yarn catch being arranged in an optimum position with respect to the parallelly extending surface of the tension compensating device and the reference point.
