Patent number: 11688416Abstract: Systems and methods enrich speech to text communications between users in speech chat sessions using a speech emotion recognition model to convert observed emotions in speech samples to enrich text with visual emotion content. The method may include generating a data set of speech samples with labels of a plurality of emotion classes, selecting a set of acoustic features from each of the emotion classes, generating a machine learning (ML) model based on the acoustic features and data set, applying the set of rules based on the selected set of acoustic features and data set, computing a number of rules that have been satisfied, and presenting the enriched text in speech-to-text communications between users in the chat session for visual notice of an observed emotion in the speech sample.Type: GrantFiled: August 30, 2021Date of Patent: June 27, 2023Inventors: Yatish Jayant Naik Raikar, Varunkumar Tripathi, Kiran Chittella, Vinayak Kulkarni

Patent number: 11089373Abstract: Seek and other trick play functions can be improved in placeshifting and similarly live-encoded video streams. Thumbnail images are derived from I-frames (or similar key frames) of the source video stream rather than from the live-encoded stream. The thumbnail images are tagged to indicate a presentation time stamp (PTS) or similar identification of the source video frame that was used to create the thumbnail image. The tagged thumbnails are provided to the media player, which renders the images to indicate different portions of the video stream as the viewer scans or performs other functions. When the viewer selects to skip to a different part of the video stream, the PTS or similar identifier associated with the presented thumbnail image is sent to the placeshifting encoder to identify the appropriate starting point to resume live encoding.Type: GrantFiled: December 29, 2017Date of Patent: August 10, 2021Assignee: Sling Media PVT LTDInventors: Kiran Chittella, Bharani Gopinath, Rueju Namath, Jayaprakash Ramaraj, Arunoday Thammineni, Varunkumar Tripathi

Patent number: 10796089Abstract: Timed text that is provided in a television broadcast or media stream can be enhanced to provide an improved user experience. A scrollable text window can be provided in a media player application, for example, that can allow the user to quickly “catchup” from a missed moment. The timed text may be enhanced to allow links to dictionaries, encyclopedias, online sources, thesauruses, translating services, and/or the like. Further implementations could use automated tools to automatically generate program summaries for watched or unwatched content.Type: GrantFiled: December 31, 2015Date of Patent: October 6, 2020Assignee: SLING MEDIA PVT. LTDInventors: Kiran Chittella, Yatish J. Naik Raikar

Publication number: 20170127101Abstract: A method of processing and delivering video content is disclosed. An embodiment of the method feeds an original stream of video data to a transcoding engine of a video place-shifting device. The engine receives the original stream at a data rate that exceeds a real time presentation data rate of the original stream. The engine transcodes the received original video data into a streaming video format compatible with presentation capabilities of a remote user device. The controlling causes the engine to transcode the received original video data at a transcoding data rate that exceeds the real time presentation data rate of the original stream. The transcoded video data is provided to a network linked to the remote user device. The video place-shifting device provides the transcoded video data to the network at a network transfer data rate that exceeds the real time presentation data rate of the original stream.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 2, 2015Publication date: May 4, 2017Inventors: Mohammed Rasool, Yatish J. Patent number: 9143825Abstract: Systems, methods and devices are provided to reduce change latency and/or to provide a picture-in-picture (PIP) feature within a placeshifted media stream. As the viewer receives a primary stream containing selected programming, secondary programming that is likely to be of interest to the user is predicted. A secondary stream containing the predicted content is obtained at the same time as the primary stream selected by the user. The secondary stream may be of lower quality than the primary stream to preserve network bandwidth. If the user subsequently selects the predicted secondary content, the previously-obtained content can be quickly provided as an output to the display. Alternately, the primary and secondary streams may be simultaneously output to the display in PIP or another manner.Type: GrantFiled: November 22, 2010Date of Patent: September 22, 2015Assignee: Sling Media PVT. Publication number: 20120116934Abstract: A server facilitates sharing of otherwise idle placeshifting devices over the Internet or another network. The server maintains a list of placeshifting devices that are available to share content via the network. When a selection of shared content is received from a client device, an available placeshifting device that has access to the requested content is identified. The client device and the identified placeshifting device establish a placeshifting connection over the network in which the client device controls the identified placeshifting device to obtain the selected content.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 27, 2010Publication date: May 10, 2012Applicant: SLING MEDIA PVT LTDInventor: Kiran Chittella
