  • Patent number: 9767396
Abstract: A method of selecting optimal inks from a plurality of ink candidates for a given color is provided, said method including a) obtaining a measure of spectral reflectance of a print substrate; b) obtaining a measure of the spectral reflectance of a first candidate ink of a first color; c) predicting a color gamut for the first candidate ink based on the spectral reflectance of the ink and the spectral reflectance of the substrate; d) repeating steps b) and c) for a second ink candidate of the first color; e) selecting the ink candidate for which the predicted color gamut includes the most target spot colors as the optimal ink for the first color.

  • Patent number: 9266189
Abstract: An example of a structure includes a first component including a first material, and a second component joined to the first component. The second component includes a second material that is dissimilar from the first material. A spacer is disposed between the first and second components, and the spacer eliminates galvanic corrosion of the first component at an interface between the first component and the second component. The spacer includes a first layer consisting of the first material, a second layer bonded to the first layer and consisting of a third material, and a third layer bonded to the second layer and consisting of the second material. The third material of the second layer is different from the first material and different from the second material. Other examples are directed to a method of making the structure, and a method for reducing galvanic corrosion.

  • Patent number: 8466696
Abstract: A system may be used to detect corrosion between a first metal and a second metal, where the second metal is positioned adjacent to the first metal. The system may include a processor electrically coupled to each of the first and the second metals and configured to monitor a complex impedance between the first metal and the second metal, where the complex impedance may include a real component and an imaginary component. The processor may compare the real component of the complex impedance to a first threshold, compare the imaginary component of the complex impedance to a second threshold, and indicate a likelihood of corrosion if at least one of the real and imaginary components are below their respective threshold.
