  • Publication number: 20120093145
Abstract: In an embodiment, a user equipment (UE) determines that a current serving network is associated with a network support zone of a given type, wherein network support zones of different types are characterized by different levels of support for a multimedia client application configured to manage server-arbitrated communication sessions at the UE. The UE loads zone-specific network procedures for supporting the multimedia client application within the network support zone of the given type, and then executes the zone-specific network procedures at the UE. In another embodiment, an application server determines that the current serving network of the UE is associated with the network support zone of the given type. The application server selects zone-specific network parameters and/or features based on the determination, and then interacts with the multimedia client application within the network support zone of the given type with the selected zone-specific network parameters and/or features.

  • Publication number: 20110194437
Abstract: In an embodiment, an application server receives a call message, from an originating user equipment (UE), that is configured to request initiation of a communication session, to be arbitrated by the application server, between the originating UE and at least one target UE. The application server selectively sends, in response to the call message, dummy data to a serving access network of a given UE associated with the communication session in order to facilitate a transition of the given UE to a dedicated-channel state. For example, the application server can selectively send the dummy data based on a size of the call message and/or based on a type of the communication session.

  • Publication number: 20100257365
Abstract: In an embodiment, a server determines to update at least one group session key (GSK) parameter for a given multicast group, the at least one GSK parameter configured to permit encryption, decryption and/or authentication of multicast messaging exchanged between members of the given multicast group during a multicast communication session. The server sends a notification to a plurality of multicast group members of the given multicast group that an update of the at least one GSK parameter for the given multicast group is available. At least one of the multicast group members receives the notification and sends a provisioning request to retrieve the updated at least one GSK parameter, the provisioning request including information specific to the given multicast group member. The server generates and encrypts the updated at least one GSK parameter and sends the encrypted at least one GSK parameter to the at least one multicast group member.
