  • Patent number: 5314358
Abstract: A terminal position assurance system is provided for an electrical connector which includes a dielectric housing having a terminal-receiving passage into which a terminal is inserted in an insertion direction to a fully inserted position. A latch surface is formed in the housing adjacent the passage and facing in the insertion direction. A bendable tab is provided on the terminal and is adapted to be bent against the latch surface. The bendable tab is structured to be bent about an axis generally parallel to the insertion direction to move an edge portion of the tab to a position over the latch surface when the terminal is in its fully inserted position.

  • Patent number: 5244414
Abstract: A boardlock system is disclosed for an electrical connector assembly mountable on a surface of a printed circuit board. The connector assembly includes a dielectric housing having an upper face with a plurality of terminal-receiving passages for top loading a plurality of terminals thereinto and a lower circuit board engaging face. The boardlock system includes a boardlock-receiving cavity at one side of the housing with an open top at one side of the upper face and an access slot in the side of the housing communicating with the cavity for insertion thereinto of a tool from the side of the housing. A boardlock device is insertable into the open top of the cavity and includes a lower end for interengagement with the circuit board for holding the connector assembly on the board. The boardlock device includes an upper end located in the cavity, aligned with the access slot, for engagement by the tool from the side of the housing.

  • Patent number: 5207603
Abstract: A stamped and formed metal electrical terminal includes a male contact blade at one end for being received in a complementary female contact member. A conductor terminating portion is provided at an opposite end of the terminal, and an intermediate section joins the male contact blade and the conductor terminating portion. The male contact blade includes a pair of juxtaposed flat blade portions each being interconnected directly to the intermediate section by a respective connecting wall to establish direct electrical continuity between the blade portions and the intermediate section. At least one tab extends from an edge of at least one of the flat blade portions, and the tab is bent over the opposite side of the other flat blade portion to prevent the blade portions from separating.

  • Patent number: 5131867
Abstract: An electrical connector is disclosed for mounting in an aperture in a panel or the like and includes a housing. A yieldable anti-vibration arm projects from the housing for engaging the panel when the connector is mounted in the aperture in the panel to prevent vibration between the connector and the panel. A recess is formed in the anti-vibration arm at a location to relieve stress in the arm during yielding thereof.

  • Patent number: 5078618
Abstract: An electrical contact socket is provided with an open end for receiving a pin to form an electrical connection therewith. The socket has walls provided with at least a pair of inwardly projecting resilient tongues extending axially of the socket and having free ends directed away from the open pin-receiving end of the socket. The free ends of the tongues are formed with V-shaped cut-outs for engaging the pin. The included angle of one of the V-shaped cut-outs is different from the included angle of the other V-shaped cut-out to cause binding between the contact socket and the pin in response to relative rotation therebetween.

  • Patent number: 4499915
Abstract: A transducer for providing a modulated fluid pressure control signal having an electromagnetic stator operable in response to an electrical control signal to apply a magnetomotive torque to a rotary valve member for controlling fluid flow to and from a control signal chamber. A diaphragm senses the difference between the control signal chamber pressure and atmospheric pressure and is operable in response thereto for moving the rotor axially for varying the pole overlap and magnetomotive torque on the rotor.

  • Patent number: 4478365
Abstract: A water valve is disclosed for use in passenger vehicle heating systems. The valve includes a cylindrical metallic socket having a heat accepting surface portion connected to the valve housing and in fluid communication with fluid flowing through the valve. The position of the heat accepting surface portion relative to a rotatable butterfly valve member results in a vortex flow condition across the face of the heat accepting surface portion, thereby providing fast heat transfer from the fluid to the socket.

  • Patent number: 4458116
Abstract: A switch assembly adapted for actuation by connection to an engine throttle shaft. The switch housing is adapted for mounting on an engine and has a rotary cam received therein having a socket for connection to the engine throttle shaft. Rotation of the cam sequentially actuates a plurality of electrical switches. The housing has a stationary and movable member with some of the switches mounted on each. A helical screw engages teeth on the movable member and for adjusting the relative position between the housing members. The screw is readily accessible from the exterior of the housing and rotation of the screw adjusts the at-rest position of the cam with respect to the switches for enabling easy calibration after installation on the engine.

  • Patent number: 4428231
Abstract: A low pressure drop hot film mass air flowmeter (10) for an automotive engine is disclosed. The flowmeter includes a main air flow passage (20), a fixed contoured flow nozzle (22) disposed in the main air flow passage to establish a localized pressure differential thereacross and, a closed circuitous recirculation path (40) disposed adjacent the main air flow passage and in fluid communication therewith through an inlet port (42) disposed upstream of the flow nozzle and an outlet port (44) disposed downstream from the flow nozzle. Pressure differential at the ports establishes a substantially laminar control flow therebetween within the recirculation path which, in turn, by viscous action, establishes a recirculation flow (67) within the recirculation path. A constant temperature thermal anemometer (54) includes a hot film probe (56) and a temperature compensating probe (58) positioned to sense the recirculating air within the recirculation path.
