  • Patent number: 10922944
Abstract: A method for detecting the status of a caregiver with respect to one or more patients or detecting possible caregiver impairment includes monitoring an environmental aspect of the patient. The monitored environmental aspect is at least one of caregiver physical activity, caregiver physiological state, and patient surroundings. The method assesses conformance/nonconformance of each monitored aspect relative to a specified norm for that aspect. If the assessment of conformance/nonconformance indicates an intuitive concern of the caregiver or a possible impairment of the caregiver, the method issues a signal to a destination which indicates the possible concern or impairment. A system for carrying out the method includes a sensing subsystem, a processor, and machine readable instructions. The machine readable instructions, when executed by the processor, cause the system to identify, in response to information sensed by the sensing subsystem, the possibility of caregiver concern or impairment.

  • Patent number: 10902713
Abstract: A system for predicting exit from an occupant support, includes a processor, a memory in communication with the processor, and a frame having at least one force sensor which outputs a force signal in response to force exerted thereon. The system also includes machine readable instructions stored in the memory which cause the system to perform at least the following actions when executed by the processor: 1) determine a property of the signal during an interval of time, 2) classify the property as suggesting an exit event or as not suggesting an exit event, and 3) if the property is classified as suggesting an exit event, generate a notification thereof.

  • Publication number: 20210020278
Abstract: A system for determining personalized baselines for use across multiple locations and by multiple caregivers. The system aggregates physiological parameters measured at a first location, determines a personalized baseline based on the aggregated physiological parameters, and generates a user interface that compares physiological parameters measured at a second location to the personalized baseline.

  • Patent number: 10856775
Abstract: A method of evaluating the likelihood that an occupant will exit an occupant support comprises determining if the location of the occupant on the occupant support is displaced relative to a reference location, and if the location of the occupant is so displaced, designating that the occupant is at a risk of exiting the occupant support which is elevated relative to the baseline risk. A support apparatus comprises a framework, a mattress, sensors distributed on the support apparatus to sense occupant weight distribution on the support apparatus, and a processor adapted to designate a risk of occupant egress as a function of the direction of the occupant weight distribution and the elevation status of the perimeter panels.

  • Publication number: 20200306101
Abstract: A moisture management apparatus monitors an area for moisture events and wirelessly transmits moisture-related information to one or more notification devices. An embodiment of the moisture management apparatus includes a substrate and one or more sensors supported by the substrate. The sensor(s) emit wireless signals indicative of the moisture-related information. A sensor event communication system forwards the sensor signals to another device, such as a notification device. The sensor event communication system may monitor other types of patient events. • Publication number: 20200289338
Abstract: An absorbent article has one or more fluid filter layers to inhibit electrode traces from being exposed to low volumes of fluid to reduce the number of false positives that are indicated by an RFID tag of the incontinence detection pad. An antenna inlay has a sacrificial trace portion to permit testing for proper operation of an RFID chip electrically coupled to the antenna inlay, After testing, the sacrificial trace portion is severed. A fluid barrier layer blocks fluid from reaching portions of electrode traces that are located on a backsheet outside a periphery of an absorbent core of an incontinence detection pad. The power at which an antenna transmits to wirelessly energize a passive RFID tag of an incontinence detection pad is controlled to reduce the number of false positives indicated by the RFID tag.
