Abstract: pH modulated films and methods of their preparation. The film compositions include at least one component having a non-neutral pH when combined with water; and a pH modulated polymer system selected to reduce or prevent synerisis when combined with the non-neutral component in combination with aqueous media. The films demonstrate a non-self-aggregating uniform heterogeneity. Desirably, the films disintegrate in water and may be formed by a controlled drying process, extrusion process, or other process that maintains the required uniformity of the film.

Abstract: A vaginal or buccal delivery of therapeutic agents having a substrate affinity for metabolic cytochrome P-450 enzymes and membrane efflux transporter systems. A method for augmentation of systemic exposure to the therapeutic agents having a substrate affinity for cytochrome P-450 enzymes and membrane efflux transporter systems, by delivering said agents to the systemic circulation through vaginal or buccal mucosa.

Abstract: A vaginal device for delivery of an anti-migraine or anti-nausea drug to the uterus and/or to the general circulation through vaginal mucosa. The device is at least partially coated with one or several layers of fluid impermeable material forming a cap, film, foam, foil or strip incorporated with mucoadhesive composition comprising the anti-migraine or anti-nausea drug.
