  • Patent number: 6254430
Abstract: A connection part has at least two matingly interengaging contact pieces that electrically connect the central conductor of a coaxial cable without soldering or trimming. In the preferred embodiment, the connection part includes a bifurcated segment and another segment resiliently disposed between the bifurcated segment. A jig is inserted through an opening into the connection part, separating and pushing the segments apart, creating a space where the central conductor of a coaxial cable is inserted. The central conductor is pressed against a groove formed by an arcuate section of the connection part segments. When the jig is removed, the resilient action of the segments grip and bend the central conductor holding it firmly and electrically connecting it to the connection part. Bendable cover pieces close the opening. An insulative covering closes and protects the coaxial connector. Grounding arms are connected to the shielding conductor of the coaxial cable and project from slots in the insulative covering.

  • Patent number: 6077131
Abstract: A male terminal in which a connection portion can be easily shaped, and deformation of the connection portion is prevented so as to ensure an electrical connection of the connection portion to a female terminal. The connection portion is formed at a front end of the male terminal, and is adapted to be electrically connected to a female terminal. The connection portion includes a bottom base portion and a contact portion, and the connection portion is bent and folded, with the contact portion superposed on the bottom base portion. A curved recess (reinforcement portion) is formed by bending at a generally central portion of the contact portion, and the reinforcement portion projects into an internal space of the connection portion, and is held in contact with the bottom base portion. By thus forming the curved reinforcement portion at the contact portion, and by holding the reinforcement portion in contact with the bottom base portion, the strength of the contact portion is increased.

  • Patent number: 5997328
Abstract: A pair of connectors which are designed so that at least one of the connectors is made movable not only in the X and Y directions but also in the Z direction so that the pair of connectors are fitted to each other in normal positions smoothly and securely. A pair of connector casings containing a pair of connectors respectively, which are designed so that at least one of the connector casings is made movable not only in the X and Y directions but also in the Z direction so that the pair of connectors are fitted to each other in normal positions smoothly and securely. Preferably, an elastic or flexible member is provided in at least one of the connector and the connector casing so that the connector or the connector casing is made movable in the X, Y and Z directions. Alternatively, a holding member using an elastic or flexible member is interposed so that the connector or the connector casing is made movable in the X, Y and Z directions.

  • Patent number: 5904441
Abstract: An instrument is provided with a first connector, and an instrument panel is provided with a second connector. A bolt is provided extending from the first connector toward the second connector. A first thread is provided in the second connector, corresponding to the bolt. A second thread is provided on the instrument panel, at a position behind the first thread. The bolt is in a first position threaded into the first thread to couple the first and second connectors together, and in a second position threaded into the second thread to fix the instrument to the instrument panel. The coupling of connectors and the fixing of an instrument to an instrument panel are effected with one and the same bolt.

  • Patent number: 5902149
Abstract: A movable connector is provided. The connector is inserted into a panel hole so as to engage stoppers of movable locking arms with the inner rim of the panel hole. Thus, the connector can be movably mounted to the panel by virtue of the elasticity of the movable locking arms. Fixed locking members each having a stopper head at the top of the pin are provided outside the movable locking arms, while locking member receiving holes are formed through the panel. When the connector moves toward one side within the panel hole and approaches or reaches the disengagement position, where the movable locking arm on the opposite side is disengaged from the panel hole, the bottom surface of the stopper head of the corresponding fixed locking member is engaged with the rim of the corresponding locking member receiving hole so as to re-lock the connector to the panel.

  • Patent number: 5163848
Abstract: In an incomplete fitting prevention connector, when female and male housings are completely fitted together, a lock arm provided on one of housings is engaged in a retaining hole provided in the other. A fitting confirmation member is beforehand retained in the retaining hole, and since the lock arm enters the retaining hole, at least part of the fitting confirmation member is projected outwardly from the retaining hole. Therefore, the complete fitting can be confirmed from the exterior. After this confirmation, the fitting confirmation member can be removed.

  • Patent number: 5066252
Abstract: In an electric connector, a terminal retainer prevents accidental locking of the terminal retainer in a connector housing by requiring two locking steps. The connector housing includes a lid member with a recess which mates with a step of a window which also is provided in the connector housing. The recess mates with the step at two different positions, the first of which is a provisional locking position. At the second position, a locking arm grips the lid member, while the recess mates with the step at the second position. This is a complete locking position.

  • Patent number: 5051100
Abstract: An electrical connector has a protective cover which moves slidably between a first position, which exposes a plurality of metal terminals to corresponding portions of a printed circuit board, and a second position, which covers the terminals. Unless the connector is inserted properly, the protective cover will cover the terminals, preventing contact with the printed circuit board. A detecting piece on a mating connector housing the printed circuit contacts moves the protective cover when the connector is inserted into the mating connector.
