Publication number: 20240176972Abstract: A color management apparatus includes at least one processor. The processor performs conversion between a first signal value and a first chromaticity value through a color profile. The color profile is created using a second chromaticity value of a color chart formed of at least one ink composition containing a liquid crystal compound and a chiral compound, and a second signal value. Each of the second chromaticity value and the second signal value is associated with amounts of the liquid crystal compound and the chiral compound.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 7, 2024Publication date: May 30, 2024Inventors: Toshiyuki MAKUTA, Misato SASADA, Kiyomi TAMAGAWA, Takuma KAWAMOTO

Patent number: 8941876Abstract: When image is formed by a liquid ejection head, input image data is subjected to conversion processing including tone conversion using a first look-up table (LUT) and density correction or non-uniformity correction in nozzle units using second LUTs. Ink use amount in image formation is predicted from reduced image data which is generated from the input image data. In this, the calculation is made more efficient by applying a third LUT which is compiled according to requirements from the second LUTs, to the reduced image data, rather than using the second LUTs directly. Since the image conversion processing is carried out which combines the first LUT for tone conversion and the third LUT corresponding to the non-uniformity correction, and the ink amount distribution data is calculated from the reduced image data after the conversion, then it is possible to ascertain an accurate ink amount which reflects the image adjustment conditions.Type: GrantFiled: November 20, 2012Date of Patent: January 27, 2015Assignee: FUJIFILM CorporationInventor: Kiyomi Tamagawa

Patent number: 8130412Abstract: When a color image is formed on a transparent sheet with a white color material as background color material and C, M, Y, K color materials as process color materials and has colors determined by the total amount of the color materials that are applied per unit area, image formation failures such as ink drooping and ink fixation failures are prevented from occurring. Of four colors or more including white represented by a CMYKW 1-bit pixel signal, the three colors C, M, Y (gray) are replaced with the color K. After the replacement, for three or more of C, M, Y, K, no white color ink is applied since the transparent sheet is opaque without the white color ink. This control process is effective to reduce the number of applications, i.e., the total amount of inks applied, thereby preventing image formation failures such as ink drooping from occurring.Type: GrantFiled: June 26, 2008Date of Patent: March 6, 2012Assignee: Fujifilm CorporationInventor: Kiyomi Tamagawa

Publication number: 20090033961Abstract: A device CMYKW 8-bit signal supplied to an image output device is controlled so that the total amount of color materials per unit area will not exceed an upper limit therefor. Until a provisional total amount of color materials reaches a value 765, a device CMYKW 8-bit signal is output with the white color material being kept at a maximum gradation level 255. When the provisional total amount is in the range between the values 765 and 1020, the amount of the white color material is reduced from the maximum gradation level to 0 to keep the total amount be the value 765. When the provisional total amount is in the range between the values 1020 and 1275, a UCR process is performed while the amount of the white color material is kept at 0. Consequently, the total amount is kept 765 of 300% or lower all the time.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 25, 2008Publication date: February 5, 2009Applicant: FUJIFILM CorporationInventor: Kiyomi TAMAGAWA

Patent number: 7162079Abstract: In a color conversion definition correcting method, image data for a target device is converted into image data for an output device using a color conversion definition made by combining a profile for a target device with a profile for an output device, and an image is output according to the converted image data. The profile for the target device is corrected as follows. Coordinate values out of a color gamut for the output device in the calorimetric color space, of coordinate values in a color gamut for the target device in the calorimetric color space, all go in the color gamut for the output device. Likely, calorimetric values for the color chart output from the target device are corrected. The corrected profile for the target device is further corrected according to the calorimetric values after correction and the calorimetric values of the color chart output from the output device.Type: GrantFiled: February 13, 2003Date of Patent: January 9, 2007Assignee: Fuji Photo Film Co., Ltd.Inventor: Kiyomi Tamagawa

Patent number: 6979069Abstract: There is provided a color conversion processing method and the like, which are capable of performing a data processing for images with a common processing system independently of a printer and also capable of performing a flexible alteration of the processing method, even if it is concerned with the printer restricted in the above-mentioned matter. In the event that there is a restriction on a total value of the respective values of CMYK on one pixel for instance, for a respective printer, image data is converted into image data suitable for the printer involved in the restriction. Processing in a printer conversion processing section, which is hitherto performed by the hardware operating processing, is implemented in form of a profile (referred to as a printer processing conversion profile). The printing profile and the printer profile are combined with the printer processing conversion profile to create a combined profile. The color conversion processing is performed in accordance with the combined profile.Type: GrantFiled: September 29, 2003Date of Patent: December 27, 2005Assignee: Fuji Photo Film Co., Ltd.Inventor: Kiyomi Tamagawa
