    Abstract: A cordless telephone includes a base unit connected to a telephone network line and a handset unit having a rechargeable battery for its operating power supply. The handset unit and the base unit are connected through a communication channel by radio waves during a telephone communication. An identification code is transmitted from one of the units to the other prior to a communication between the two units. The identification code transmitted by one unit is examined in the other unit, and a communication channel is established between the two units only when the transmitted identification code is determined be correct.
