    Abstract: A digital television receiver includes a CS receive circuit (12). This CS receive circuit receives a digital television broadcast signal. The digital television broadcast signal contains video data from which first video data is created as well as EPG data from which second video data is created. First and second video compression circuits (18, 20) respectively compress first and second video data and output first and second compression video signals. The first and second compression video signals are composited together by a video compositing circuit (22). Consequently, on the monitor (24) are displayed EPG and broadcast video picture in a 2-screens form.

    Abstract: A television including a CS digital circuit to receive a CS digital television broadcast signal. A micom circuit detects a broadcast mode of the digital television broadcast. Where the broadcast mode is in a first mode, or usual broadcast mode, the power supply to a video output section and audio output section, for example, is turned on to output video images and sound respectively through a CRT and a speaker. Also, where the broadcast mode is in a second mode, or radio broadcast mode, the power supply to the video output section is turned off. Where the broadcast mode is in a third mode, or data broadcast mode, the power supply to both the image output section and the audio output section is turned off.

    Abstract: A digital broadcast receiver for realizing functions approximately corresponding to those of a VCR by utilizing a time shifting service broadcasting the same program on a plurality of channels which are time-shifted from one another in broadcasting the program by varying periods of delay time. For example in resuming viewing after an interruption of viewing on the desired one of the channels to realize the function of pause, the channel is determined the delay time of which relative to the channel initially viewed is greater than and most approximate to the interruption period, and the initial channel is automatically changed over to the channel thus determined.
