Patent number: 4976329Abstract: An apparatus for applying brake to right and left drive wheels to reduce slip of the wheels upon detection of the slipping conditions of the wheels under acceleration. The apparatus has a target determining device for determining the manners or modes of applying the brakes to the two drive wheels in different fashions. For one of the two drive wheels which has a comparatively large slipping tendency, a nominal control mode corresponding to the detected slipping condition is selected. The control mode for the wheel having a low slipping tendency, a mode different from a nominal mode corresponding to the detected slipping condition is used, under predetermined conditions, so that the actually used control mode is closer to the nominal mode used for the wheel having the large slipping tendency, in order to assure an optimum compromise between the drivability or acceleration of the vehicle and the avoidance of the wheel slipping condition.Type: GrantFiled: September 12, 1989Date of Patent: December 11, 1990Assignee: Toyota Jidosha Kabushiki KaishaInventor: Kiyotaka Ise

Patent number: 4971164Abstract: A controller for reducing acceleration slippage of a driven wheel starts the throttle-valve control, the brake control, and the engine output torque control when acceleration slippage is detected. The output torque control is executed together with the brake control for a limited period after the detection of acceleration slippage, thus compensating for the slow effect of the throttle-valve control on the output torque. The controller quickly reduces acceleration slippage without adversely affecting the engine operation.Type: GrantFiled: February 9, 1989Date of Patent: November 20, 1990Assignee: Toyota Jidosha Kabushiki KaishaInventors: Kozo Fujita, Kiyotaka Ise

Patent number: 4955448Abstract: The acceleration-slippage controller reduces acceleration slippage at a driven wheel of an automobile by adjusting brake force on the driven wheel, and an opening of a throttle valve of the engine. When the brake-force control increases the brake force to reduce the driven-wheel rotation, the moving speed of the throttle valve is corrected toward the closed position. Because the throttle valve control correlates to the brake control, their combined control can quickly reduce the driven-wheel speed to its target without causing hunting of the throttle valve opening.Type: GrantFiled: February 22, 1989Date of Patent: September 11, 1990Assignee: Toyota Jidosha Kabushiki KaishaInventors: Kiyotaka Ise, Kozo Fujita

Patent number: 4947954Abstract: An acceleration-slippage controller having an instantaneous-slippage detector for maintaining a good acceleration of an automobile. After an acceleration-slippage control has started due to slippage detected at a driven wheel, the instantaneous-slippage detector determines whether the detected slippage is instantaneous. If the slippage is determined to be instantaneous, the acceleration-slippage control is immediately interrupted so that a long acceleration-slippage control cycle does not limit the acceleration of the automobile.Type: GrantFiled: February 13, 1989Date of Patent: August 14, 1990Assignee: Toyota Jidosha Kabushiki KaishaInventors: Kozo Fujita, Kiyotaka Ise

Patent number: 4850656Abstract: An anti-slip control device for a drive wheel of a vehicle, for preventing an excessive amount of slip of the drive wheel during acceleration of the vehicle, by lowering a speed of the drive wheel when the amount of slip of the drive wheel exceeds a predetermined value. The control device includes a target-speed determining device for determining a target speed of the drive wheel based on a detected speed of the vehicle and the detected speed of the drive wheel. The control device further includes an uphill-road determining device for determining whether the vehicle is on an uphill road, and a low-speed detecting device for detecting that a detected running speed of the vehicle is lower than a predetermined threshold value. If the vehicle is on an uphill road and the vehicle speed is lower than the threshold value, the target speed determining device is operated in an uphill-road mode such that the determined target speed is lower than that determined in a flat-road mode.Type: GrantFiled: March 8, 1988Date of Patent: July 25, 1989Assignee: Toyota Jidosha Kabushiki KaishaInventors: Kiyotaka Ise, Sinichi Matsumoto, Hiroharu Miyazaki

Patent number: 4811808Abstract: The invention relates to an acceleration slip control device, wherein the control quantity for the throttle valve angle operation is determined not only in response to the slip condition but also to the output torque changeability of the internal combustion engine with regard to the throttle valve angle displacement, therefore the output torque of the engine can be effectively restrained to the optimum value counteractive to the slip condition of the driving wheels.Type: GrantFiled: October 16, 1987Date of Patent: March 14, 1989Assignee: Toyota Jidosha Kabushiki KaishaInventors: Shinichi Matsumoto, Kiyotaka Ise, Hiroharu Miyazaki

Patent number: 4805102Abstract: An effective vehicle attitude control method in which the abrupt change of the vehicle attitude due to the acceleration slip control can be quickly controlled. When the slippage of a drive wheel is determined to be greater than a predetermined value, the drive force of the drive wheel is controlled and, at the same time, the suspension characteristic is altered to a harder state. For preferentially keeping maneuverability and riding comfort, the altered suspension characteristic may be restored to the original state when a preset time period has passed.Type: GrantFiled: January 29, 1987Date of Patent: February 14, 1989Assignee: Toyota Jidosha Kabushiki KaishaInventors: Kiyotaka Ise, Harumasa Minegishi, Hiroshi Harada

Patent number: 4765691Abstract: A wheel slip control system for independently executing an anti-skid control and a traction control. The system includes a microcomputer, a first capacity control valve for anti-skid control, a selector valve, and a second capacity control valve for traction control. These values are connected in series between a master cylinder and a break cylinder. Such valves prevent brake fluid from over-charging a reservoir even in the course of switching from anti-skid control to traction control or vice versa, so that the brake pressure is properly reduced without consideration of capacity of the reservoir.Type: GrantFiled: January 21, 1987Date of Patent: August 23, 1988Assignee: Toyota Jidosha Kabushiki KaishaInventors: Yoshiaki Inoue, Akira Shirai, Yoshihisa Nomura, Kazumasa Nakamura, Takafumi Inagaki, Harumasa Minegishi, Kiyotaka Ise
