  • Publication number: 20080304780
Abstract: The present invention relates to a bearing device in which an inner ring is sealed from an outer ring by seals and together with the outer ring forms a closed bearing unit with a built-in circulation circuit for a lubricating oil mist. Rolling elements and rolling tracks disposed in the circulation circuit and lubricated by the oil mist. Means are adapted to forming an oil mist of lubricating oil from a reservoir, and means are adapted to causing the oil mist to flow in the circulation circuit. The invention also relates to an application of the bearing device for rotatably supporting a rotor in a centrifugal separator and to a method for supporting a centrifugal separator rotor for rotation about an axis of rotation.

  • Patent number: 6578670
Abstract: The invention refers to a drive unit (1) for a centrifuge rotor (2) of a centrifugal separator. The drive unit (1) includes a drive shaft (3), which is arranged to support said centrifuge rotor (2) and is rotatably journalled around an axis (z) of rotation, a casing (6), which forms an inner space for the drive shaft (3), and a drive motor shaft (9), which is provided outside the casing (6) and connected to the drive shaft (3) by means of a transferring member (11) which extends through a passage (12) in the casing (6). A shielding member (23) is provided inside the casing (6) in such a way that the part of the transferring member (11), which is located inside the casing (6) is shielded from the inner space, wherein the shielding member (23) forms a channel, which extends through the casing (6) and is shielded from the inner space of the casing.

  • Patent number: 6325751
Abstract: A centrifugal separator has a centrifuge rotor (1), which is rotatable about a vertical axis (x) of rotation and has at least one outlet (3) around the periphery for intermittently discharging a separated product. The separator has a casing (4), which encloses the rotor, and a space (6), delimited by the rotor (1) and an inner surface of a wall forming a part of the casing. The space (6) is arranged to receive the product from the outlet and has an outlet passage (8) for conveying the product from the space. The inner surface has a first surface portion (9′), located at the level of the outlet and extending inwardly from a second surface portion (9″) of the inner surface. The second surface portion is located below the first surface portion and extends around the rotor downwardly and inwardly with respect to the axis (x). The outlet passage (8) is located below the maximum diameter of the second surface portion.

  • Patent number: 6224533
Abstract: A flexible metal support device for a rotatable centrifuge rotor (2) provided in a frame member (1) by a bearing member (4). The support device comprises a support element (7) provided between the bearing member (4) and the frame member (1), and arranged to absorb relative movements between the centrifuge rotor and the frame member. The support element (7) comprises an inner mounting portion, essentially immovable in relation to the bearing member (4), and an outer mounting portion, essentially immovable in relation to the frame member (1). Moreover, the support element (7) comprises three flexible connecting portions which each extends between the inner and outer mounting portions and is arranged to absorb radial and axial relative movements between the centrifuge rotor and the frame member. Furthermore, the inner portion, the connecting portions and the outer portion form an integrated unit manufactured in one piece of metal material.

  • Patent number: 5792037
Abstract: In the rotor of a centrifugal separator there is an annular slide (6) for opening and closing of a periphery outlet (12, 13) from a separation chamber (9). The slide (6) at its radially inner edge is connected with and axially fixed relative to the rotor body (1, 2) but has a radially outer edge portion (11) which is axially movable relative to the rotor body (1, 2). This is possible because a portion of the slide, having a substantial radial extension, is flexible. In operation, the flexibility of the slide results in an angular change between portions of the slide situated at different radial distances from the center axis of the rotor.

  • Patent number: 4978370
Abstract: In connection with reduction of the pressure of newly produced oil, i.e. a mixture of hydrocarbon compounds, this conventionally is performed stepwise, a momentary pressure drop occurring at each stage.According to the invention it is suggested that oil is caused to flow radially inward in a chamber (12), which is formed by a rotating vessel (1) and which is only partly filled with rotating oil, whereby the pressure drop in the oil can occur relatively slowly. A free liquid surface is maintained in the chamber (12), and a certain gas pressure is maintained in the liquid free part thereof, while evaporated hydrocarbon compounds are removed through a central gas outlet (18).

  • Patent number: 4800367
Abstract: The present invention concerns a method of sensing and indicating errors in a dosing circuit, in which a pumping device (1) pumps a fluid via a conduit system out to at least one dosing device (3) located nearby a dosing place. The dosing device (3) measures and discharges intermittently a predetermined volume of the fluid through a pressure controlled non-return valve (16) to the dosing place, when the pressure in the conduit system is increased from a low pressure to a high pressure during a certain limited time.
