  • Patent number: 5992271
Abstract: An engineers wrench has at least one open end forming a mouth which defines a mouth opening. The mouth opening is laterally delimited by a pair of mutually oppositely disposed lateral, surfaces which define a wrench width. At least inwardly disposed sections of the lateral surfaces have a slight convex-cylindrical curvature defined by a finite radius of curvature so that the mouth opening widens in the direction towards respective outer edges to a mouth width which exceeds the wrench width. The mouth opening is inwardly delimited by a mouth base; two substantially flat surfaces are interconnected at the mouth base as well as connected to associated ones of the lateral surfaces through respective connecting surfaces. The connecting surfaces have a concave-cylindrical curvature defined by a smaller radius of curvature than the finite radius of curvature of the convex-cylindrically curved lateral surfaces.

  • Patent number: 5394419
Abstract: In a circuit arrangement for limiting the power of the optical signal emitted by a laser, the current through the laser is supplied via a parallel connection of a plurality of series circuits of a transistor with a resistor. In addition, provision is made for a limitation, depending on the operating temperature of the laser, of the maximum current through the laser, which is realized by means of a temperature-dependent control signal fed to the control electrodes of the transistors.

  • Patent number: 5343784
Abstract: The rotary tool has an element (10) rotatable about an axis of rotation and provided with a polygonal pin (16). A wrench socket insert (3), having a recess complementary to the polygonal pin (16), can be placed at the polygonal pin (16). The polygonal pin (16) and the tool (3) have longitudinal throughbores (18, 30). A tool element as a retaining control member (2) can be passed through the longitudinal throughbores. A transverse bore (20) is provided in the polygonal pin (16) and connected, on the one hand, to the longitudinal throughbore (18) and ends, on the other hand, at the outer surface of the polygonal pin (16). A detent ball (22) is located in the transverse bore (20) and adapted to snap into a detent passage (28) in the tool element (3).

  • Patent number: 4898068
Abstract: A torque wrench comprises an elongate outer housing, an elongate inner part extending in and beyond the outer housing and pivotally connected thereto proximate an end in common of the torque wrench, the extending portion of the inner part providing a handle for the wrench at the end thereof opposite the end in common, the outer housing being adapted to hold a tool at the end in common preferably free of the inner part, and a spring-loaded toggle lever mechanism acting between the handle portion of the inner part and the outer housing and arranged to release when a predetermined torque, that is transmitted to the tool through the handle portion, the toggle lever mechanism, and the outer housing, is exceeded, thereby causing pivotal movement between the outer housing and the inner part.

  • Patent number: 4770072
Abstract: A reversible ratchet wrench wherein the usual pawl member associated with the usual ratchet wheel located in the head end of an elongate, ratchet wrench body is rotated either clockwise or counterclockwise from one end position to an opposite end position for reverse wrench operation by an elongate, change-over finger that extends longitudinally of the wrench body to the handle end thereof and is pivotally mounted as a lever relative to the wrench body. The work arm end of the lever preferably freely engages a recess or notch in the pawl, while the power arm end of the lever preferably engages a resiliently urged ball detent for snap action in moving from one end position to the opposite end position, alternately, under the control of preferably opposite push button ends of a slide actuator located near the handle end of the wrench body for pressing by a finger of the one hand of a user holding the wrench by such handle end.

  • Patent number: 4602538
Abstract: A torque wrench having a shaft with a tool head at one end a handle at the other end. The handle is supported on a lever system having a first and a second two-armed lever. One arm of the first lever engages one arm of the second lever. The handle is supported at two points on the other arm of the first lever and the other arm of the second lever. The other arm of the first lever engages a force sensor, which is attached to the shaft. The levers are dimensioned such that the measuring force acting upon the force sensor, when an applied force acts on the handle, is independent of the point of application of the applied force and is always proportional to the torque exerted about the axis of rotation of a tool.

  • Patent number: 4589289
Abstract: Device for tightening a screw fastening or the like. The device includes a tubular housing with a head piece for joining with the screw fastening, and a handle for gripping the housing and applying torque thereto. Inside the tubular housing there is a device for adjusting and signaling the torque, as well as a device for measuring the angle of rotation in tightening the screw fastening. The torque device is connected to the angle-of-rotation device in such a way that the angle-of-rotation device is triggered when a certain jointing torque is achieved.
